Darkseid's History

Darkseid was the tyrannical leader of the fortress mecha planet Apokolips. Utilizing the Anti-Life Engine and fragments of the Source Wall, Darkseid devoured countless planets and civilizations including Korugar, Warworld and New Genesis.

At the end of WWII, Darkseid dispatched a single Parademon to assess the strength of the Earth's defenders. Although the Parademon was lost, Darkseid was not impressed by the resistance put up by the Justice Society and set Earth for conquest at a future date as it set posed no threat at that time.

Sixty years later Darkseid arrived in Kryptonian space, bypassing the Kryptonian defenses with the help of an unnamed traitor, and used the Anti-Life Engine to devour the planet despite the resistance provided by Barda, Orion and the House of El. Despite this overwhelming victory, one Kryptonian mech would escape, bearing the infant Kal-El.

Twenty more years later, Apokolips would set its sights on Earth once again, with Darkseid dispatching Kalibak, the Furies and a large force of Parademons to begin softening up the planet and to being construction on a planetary Boom Tube gate so that Apokolips could be moved into the solar system quickly. Despite this seemingly overwhelming force, Humanity's defenders delayed and thwarted Darkseid's plans with the assistance of Kal-El. During one such battle around the still in construction gate, Darkseid grew tired of his son's failures and directly intervened by firing his Omega beams through a Boom Tube, seemingly destroying Kal-El's mech.

The gate would eventually be finished and Apokolips would arrive in Earth space and transform into its Conquest Mode. Humanity's forces seemed to be at the brink, despite having managed to disengage the planetary shields, when the rogue biomechanical B1-Zar-Ro sided with the defenders and flew himself directly into the Anti-Life Engine and critically damaged the machine. Unperturbed, Darkseid continued his assault and began the process of devouring the Earth when Kal-El used every ounce of power in his mech to deliver another blow to the critically damaged Engine, which caused Apokolips to explode from the force of the pent up energies. Darkseid was presumably killed in the detonation, but the debris was sucked into the planet's emergency Boom Tube so his fate is uncertain.
