Zacama

Magic: the Gathering

Zacama's powers and abilities

Elder Dinosaur - Zacama is easily the largest dinosaur ever found on any plane in Magic the Gathering's multiverse. Its sheer size dwarfs Mesoamerican temples and its stride allowed it to cross islands and the sea in a short timeframe (less than a day) that had taken Huatli and other adventurers months to move through with conventional means. Each step from the behemoth could be felt for dozens of miles in every direction. If this size wasn't enough, Zacama also sports three massive heads, each of which could easily fit entire buildings into their jaws. And despite superficially resembling a Tyrannosaurus, Zacama's arms are long enough to be a significant threat in combat on top of its massive and muscular tail.

Avatar of the Threefold Sun - Zacama is the primary conduit through which one of the deities of Ixalan, the Threefold Sun, manifests its power. The Threefold Sun has three aspects that prior to Zacama's reawakening had been assumed by numerous smaller dinosaurs. Zacama now embodies all of these aspects simultaneously. Also unlike previous avatars, Zacama's form was created from mana and is inherently magical.

  • The Wakening Sun - The white aligned aspect is associated with creativity, order and the wet season. This power manifests in light generation and healing capabilities in Zacama among others.

  • The Burning Sun - The red aligned aspect is associated with ferocity/rage, fire and the dry season. This power manifests itself as Zacama being able to generate fire and heat and its general destructive capabilities.

  • The Verdant Sun - The green aligned aspect is associated with nature, community and the cold season. This power manifests itself in Zacam's ability to destroy the unnatural and its ability to foster natural growth.
