Yithian

The Great Race Of Yith

Cthulhu Mythos

Yithian's powers and abilities

Mental Powers - The Great Race utilizes its advanced telepathic abilities to mind control and swap bodies with other species. There is seemingly no defense against this attack, as many other Lovecraftian races are seen having had their bodies taken. Presumably, though, this cannot affect those with bodies made of foreign matter or those of Great Old One levels of power or higher. This ability is the way the Yithians avoid extinction, fleeing en masse when an extinction event is coming to the next best species available to them. This power can seemingly cross space to other worlds, but it is unknown if a specialized device is required for this feat as the time hopping transfers do. They also have a limited ability to control lesser races around them, although this can be resisted.

Precognitive Abilities - Yithians can peer backwards and forwards into time, discerning upcoming events that could affect them negatively. This ability does not grant them perfect clarity into the times they peer into, necessitating their mind-swap travels.

Extrasensory Powers - Although not explicitly described, Yithians possess additional senses even when they possess another body. What exactly these senses do is not said.

Current Bodies - The bodies the Yithian's possess during the Shadow Out of Time is one of a conical molluscoid race. These bodies are roughly 10 feet tall and feature two extendable arms with grasping pincers. Their head rests upon a stalk and features numerous small tentacles the Yith use for operating small devices like pens. A final stalk supports their organs they use for consuming sustenance that primarily consists of vegetables and synthetic food stuffs. Their locomotion is referred to as snail or slug like. These forms also only possess a sense of sight and hearing, lacking all other senses including pain.
