Willow Rosenberg's powers and abilities

Innate Abilities:

Intelligence:
  • Showed to be one of the smartest students at Sunnydale High School, to the point of being asked to be a substitute teacher (at only 16 years old) for the computer class following the death of said teacher. While she had a lesson plan to follow along, she was in charge of making sure the fellow students were doing well and going as far as having to give and grade assignments and tests.

  • Was capable of calculating the square root of 841 instantly, without hesitation, all within her head.

  • Was accepted into Oxford University, which is one of the most competitive universities in the world, along with many other prestigious schools.

  • Was able to stop Buffy from ingesting a lethal dose (100% pure) of a fever serum, stating it would have likely killed Buffy within an instant. She was able to administer a safe dosage for her to take.

  • Was able to concoct an antidote by using the demon's venom which made Buffy hallucinate.

Computer Skills:
  • At 16 years old, she was considered a potential recruit for a world-leading software company, that was said to be extremely selective.

  • Much before Buffy appeared to Sunnydale, Willow had been hacking government sites for quite some time, often just for entertainment purposes. She would often hack into the city council to view building plans such as the sewer system or one of its cemeteries. She said, "...I sort of stumbled onto them, when I accidentally decrypted the cities council security system."

  • She would hack into the school's computer system to get sensitive information on other students, including medical documents.

  • Hacked into the town's coroners office, stating she had it "bookmarked" meaning she apparently she does this often.

  • Hacked the mayor's personal files, unfortunately by the time she got through encryptions the files were empty, she thought that the Mayor had figured it out that someone was hacking their way in, but in reality this was due to Faith working for the Mayor at the time.

  • Hacked into the DMV's records.

  • Was able to tap into a highly-secured network of hidden camera feeds.

Engineering & Robotics:
  • Kept parts of the destroyed android/robot, Ted, to use as study components.

  • Was able to discover the cause of damage to the Buffybot and was able to repair the Buffybot following its destruction from Glory, and even reprogramed it with one-liners to use while slaying. She also programed it to track her down to fix any malfunctions that may occur while patrolling.

  • Became the leader of the Scoobies for a period after Buffy's death.

  • Leads a group of Wicca Slayers.

Physical Attributes:

Strength:
  • Decapitates the "Wig Lady's" demonic appendage with a single axe swing.

  • With magic she can amp herself up to enhance her physical strength by using a spell, to the point even Buffy had trouble keeping up with her (it should be known Buffy was holding back as she didn't truly want to fight or hurt Willow). She quoted she was strong enough to simply beat Andrew and Jonathan to death since she couldn't use magics on them at the time.

Speed:
  • Before becoming a witch, Willow would've been considered average human with her speed, however after learning more about magic her reaction speed would increase. Soon after learning to fly, she would become a faster member of the team, being able to react to beings with blurring-speed without problems.

  • Before getting involved with the magics, she had the durability of an average human, slowly increasing her durability as she grew stronger.

  • 3 years after getting involved in magic, and becoming a witch, Willow went to fight Glory, a Hell-Goddess. Willow was able to take a backhand to the face, which threw her into a chair knocking it over as well, and only left her with a busted lip. Afterwards, she took a coffee table being thrown at her by Glory as well.

  • When she became Dark Willow, she gets struck with an axe to the spine, which knocks her to the ground, yet within seconds she gets up perfectly fine.

  • Gets blown through a brick wall into a cement pillar.

  • Was able to take multiple hits from Buffy, and fight against her in hand-to-hand combat.

Magic:

Magical Prowess:
  • Early on it was established that Willow is gifted with the inherent talent for magic. As addressed by the likes of Aluwyn and the Elemental Goddesses, Willow was the most powerful witch of the Earth dimension, being able to easily hold her own against the Old Ones and Higher Beings, and even giving birth to the new Seed of Wonder (the source of all magic in the world). Amy Madison characterizes her as a "big all-powerful earth-mother witch goddess".

  • Her first spell was being able to restore Angel's/Angelus despite having little to none experience prior, while also recovering in the hospital. Giles said that this was a spell that was even deemed beyond his scope, as Giles had much more experience and knowledge concerning magic.

  • Tara, who had practiced magic since her childhood, would praise Willow's power even though at the time Willow had only been practicing for less than two years.

  • Amy Madison, who was a powerful witch by lineage, was amazed by Willow's magical aptitude. She later sates that "Willow always had the power, long before she even knew what to do with it, just came so easy for her, the rest of us, we had to work twice as hard to be half as good."

  • Evil magic-dealer Rack was drawn to Willow's power, even though she had only just recovered from a magical burnout the same day.

  • When Willow went dark for the first time, and tried to kill Andrew and Jonathan after killing Warren, Anya stated "...being the most powerful Wicca in the Western Hemisphere...". Anya is a blunt and literalness, not truly understanding sarcasm and exaggeration, and given she was almost 1,150 years old had much experience with magic and magic users.

  • Becomes a master of both White/Light and Dark magic.

  • Teaches and guides a coven of aspiring Wiccas.

  • Her superior experience often allows her to go up against somebody with greater power.

Magic Detecting & Decoding:
  • Willow can naturally sense and detect magic.

  • Willow and Tara could detect the dark magic being used on this mind controlled animal.

  • Willow was able to detect a presence between our plane of existence and another.

  • Willow detects the magic of Amy to see where she had been, and what she had done. All by reading her magic.

  • Willow senses reality warping at work via magic, which in turn helps Willow in finding her target.

  • Is able absorb an opponent's magic to decode it.

Telekinesis:
  • Telekinesis is one of the first things Willow constantly practiced, and used this to stake a vampire with pencil.

  • Decapitated a vampire with a hubcap

  • Used her telekinesis to cause an apartment building to shake, as if an earthquake was in the process.

  • Combining her power with another witch made her telekinesis stronger, she displayed this multiple times with Tara. For example, they made a path for spike by sending a horde of gaurds/minions fly back.

  • Hijacked Xander's car from the backseat to turn the way she needed to.

  • Stopped a bus in its tracks before hitting her.

  • Tortured Warren by slowly, telekinetically, pushing the same bullet that almost killed Buffy into his torso.

  • Flayed Warren alive, with a simple wave of her hand.

  • Took control of an 18-wheeler to catch up with Buffy and Xander.

  • Calls for Buffy's weapons and hurls them at Giles.

  • Played around with Giles, pinning him to the ceiling then hurling him to the ground multiple times.

  • Partially raised a buried temple.

  • Bursted through a brick floor while telekinetically carrying three others.

  • Sent three demons away with a wave of her hand.

  • Rips the limbs off a demon.

  • Forms a Willow-shaped giant with surrounding sand and rocks.

  • Catches Buffy, Spike, and Dawn before falling to the ground.

  • Carries Buffy, Spike and Andrew with her as she flies.

  • Pulled a car off a disaster victim.

  • Broke off the top of a mountain to use in order to keep the Old One Quor'toth at bay.

Telepathy:
  • Was able to mentally project herself into Buffy's subconscious in order to bring her out of her catatonic state.

  • Lead a patrol by sending the Scoobies instructions while she surveyed the surrounding area.

  • Would often instruct and talk to others via telepathic communication such as Spike, Buffy, Xander, etc..

  • Was able to pick up Buffy's thoughts even though she was half-way across town and communicate and mock her.

  • Used her telepathy to look into Amy's mind and view her memories.

  • Acted as Buffy's guide when she was journeying through the layers of Spike's mind.

  • While in a weakened state, Willow was able to telepathically communicate with Anya and control her mind, even though Anya claimed that Vengeance Demons are immune to mind control.

Mental & Behavioral Manipulation:
  • Used a memory purging spell to erase the memory of Tara Maclay after an argument they had. This spell caused the target to completely forget recent negative feelings, memories, or occurrences. She would later use it again with a delayed effect, meaning it would not be casted until she wanted it to. This would unfortunately backfire for her, due to her being in a rush, and cause the entire Scooby Gang, including herself, would suffer complete amnesia. Their memories were later restored once the crystal used for the spell had been crushed.

  • Was able to compel Anya into aiding her, despite Anya saying, "...that mind control mojo doesn't work on Vengeance Demons..."

  • Was able to put an officer to sleep, simply by saying, "Take a nap."

  • Via a suggestive trance, she was able to convince a police officer that Giles was an inspector so that they could get information from him.

  • Was able to completely pacify Amy's zombie army.

  • Was able to inspire a child's creativity in a magic-less world.

  • Compelled the Vice President of the United States to tell the truth, by saying, "Veritas" (Latin for "truth" or "reality").

Teleportation:
  • Teleported herself away before a vampire could bite her.

  • Teleported Olaf the Troll God into another dimension.

  • BFRs Glory to a random location within the sky. It is possible it was an Atmospheric Reentry, given Glory seemed to be ablaze as she fell back down to the ground.

  • Was capable of flesh steps as Dark Willow.

  • Teleported herself, Buffy, and Dawn to the Magic Box without them noticing. This left Buffy and Dawn seemingly light-headed.

  • Was able to speak mid-teleport.

  • Teleported Buffy from a specific estate in London to the Scotland Slayer Base.

  • Teleports a giant-sized Dawn from Scotland to the streets of Tokyo.

  • Teleports herself and a squad of Slayers into a dorm room, with the help of mystical totems.

  • Teleports a captured demon away with her.

  • Teleports an entire submarine (seemingly a Virginia-class submarine, but never stated) out of the ocean and to the Tibetan Mountains.

  • Uses teleportation in quick succession to dodge ranged attacks.

  • Willow shows she can dodge instantaneous explosions by teleporting.

  • Willow began a spell that would shift everyone in a nightclub, that wasn't a 15 year-old girl like Dawn at the time, to an alternate dimension saying that it would only be for a fraction of a second and they wouldn't even notice.

Portal Creation:
  • Creates a portal to Africa, thousands of years in the past.

  • Opens a predetermined temporal rift to 200 years in the future to help Buffy return to the present.

  • Uses the Slayer Scythe to create tears in reality that allow her to peek into a multitude of dimensions. Since Willow had opened so many tears in reality, Aluwyn had warn her that "...it would be very nice if you didn't cause all reality to collapse in on itself."

  • Opens a portal to the infamous hell dimension Quor'toth using the Scythe, which is both a difficult and potentially cataclysmic task.

  • Uses tiny portals as a form of communication.

  • Sends a Kraken back to its home-world.

  • Was able to keep up with a speeding minivan.

  • Was able to fly and hold a conversation with Buffy as she acrobatically made her way throughout town.

Energy Manipulation:
    Energy & Magic Absorption:
  • Absorbed the combined "mojo" from dozens of black magic books, absorbing the text as she does it and leaving the books blank. It can be assumed that she was also absorbing the knowledge of the books to better understand the black magic within the books, yet this is never stated.

  • Drains the dangerous dark energy from Rack, leaving him in a coma for a month.

  • Drained the collective magic from the most powerful coven in England out of Gile's body, almost killing him in the process.

  • Uses the Earth's energies to restore her skin tissue via meditation. Buffy joins her offering her own energies and strength to help speed up the process.

  • Drained the life energy from Kennedy and Anya to power a spell to open a portal, though this didn't harm those take them to ground, seemingly weakening them a tad bit.

  • Was able to discretely steal Amy's mojo mid-battle it and decode it in order to reverse her spell.

  • Can safely drain the energy and mojo from other witches to neutralize them. Willow stated magic is all just energy, and that you can borrow theirs or take it permanently, making it impossible for them to cast any more spells.

    Energy Transference:
  • Was able to transfer the mental energy that Glory had stole from Tara back into her, which restored Tara's sanity and weakened Glory, who stated, "...she made a hole...I need a brain to eat." Brains and mental energy is what allowed Glory to not go insane and stay in her form longer.

  • Transfers a huge sum of mojo into Dawn to keep her alive longer.

  • Restored Buffy's Slayers powers after she willingly relinquished them.

  • Destroys a generator powering a massive force field.

  • Was able to harm somebody who was protected by magical armor.

  • Willow commonly uses powerful electrical energy like blasts. They range in power, but even at their weakest, they harm Glory who was shown to be invulnerable to most forms of damage at that point, and even knock back the Old One who ruled its own hell world.

  • At the top of her game, Willow can project blasts to match the one of the most powerful of Old Ones in energy output.

    Energy Barriers & Force Fields:
  • Created an invisible wall to keep Glory in place, it was described as having the density of onyx and texture of nectar. It was able to be thickened and made stronger when said "thicken."

  • Secures a gas station in a force field, protecting it from an army of crusaders, which only the might and anger of Glory was able to pierce through.

  • Briefly holds back a Turok-han (a super vampire) with a force field. Dawn later concluded that Willow had intentionally let it fail, which is likely given that she doesn't deny this.

  • Contains a vampire inside a box-shaped prison that outside forces can pass into.

  • Blocks a direct attack from a wizard, with an energy shield.

  • Ensnares Warren with branches.

  • Creates an ever-spawning horde of root-based monsters to fight Buffy and Dawn.

  • Willow sates the source of her power to manipulate nature. She is found by Giles pulling nonnative flower from one side of the planet to the other through the earth, and can do this because she understand how everything is connected from plants, to molecules, to energy itself. In this knowledge she can manipulate things.

Light Manipulation:
  • Willow had the power to conjure balls of light in order to illuminate her way in the dark.

  • Was in the process of creating a ball of sunshine that Buffy could use to defeat nests of vampires, this backfired due to Anya's annoyance about keeping cost of the materials Willow was using from the Magic Shop.

Conjuring:
  • Conjures a firefly-like guide to help her out of a hellish frat house, but the spell backfires and seemingly overloads (it is presumed it failed due to the demon, Gachnar, who was controlling said house via fear manipulation).

Reality Warping:
  • Willow has showed many times to be capable of warping reality, often with the wave of her hand.

  • Willow's true first reality warping feat, would be the My Will Be Done spell. Which would bring her statements to reality. This spell caused Giles to go blind when she said, "...you don't see anything!" Secondly, she accidentally transforms Amy from a rat back into a human then back into a rat, by saying, "First she's a perfectly normal girl, then poof, she's a rat." Thirdly, by saying, "...he's probably just standing out there, you'll find him two seconds," which caused Spike to appear outside the dorms and Buffy finding him within two seconds. Fourthly, she causes Spike and Buffy to fall in love, making Spike propose to Buffy when she said "well fine, why doesn't she just go marry him." Lastly, she called Xander a "demon magnet," thus attracting real hostile demons to his location. These actions had made her eligible to become a vengeance demon, given that her magic and pain were so strong, but she declined the offer and undid the spell. D'Hoffryn still saw potential in her that he offered the opportunity that if she ever changed her mind to summon him.

  • At the Bronze, a nightclub in Sunnydale, she and Amy decided to break the laws of reality. Willow altered the size of two men, causing one to shrink and the other grow/stretch. She changes the sex, clothing, and the music performance of a band. She caused two men to be put into dancing cages to dance uncontrollably. They changed humans into animals, caused people to fly and levitate. Once they were bored with the scene, all Willow said was "return," waved her hand and everything had gone back to the way it was, with everyone seemingly not knowing anything had happened.

  • As Dark Willow, she stated she could turn Dawn back into the ball of mystical energy she originally was.

Perspective Manipulation:
  • When returning from England, after having gone dark and working to better herself with a coven there, her anxiety over confronting her friends inadvertently causes some sort of perceptual disconnect between herself and Buffy, Xander and Dawn.

Time Manipulation & Travel:
  • Willow and Anya botched their attempt at creating a temporal fold because the visions caused by the spell made Willow shake and the sand that was meant be poured over the image of Anya's necklace, so that it could be extracted from an alternate reality, instead poured on Willow's leg, causing her counterpart in that reality to be summoned into theirs.

  • Willow was able to open a portal, in order to bring Buffy back, thousands of years in the past.

  • Opens a predetermined temporal rift to 200 years in the future to help Buffy return to the present.

Regeneration & Healing:
  • Willow had the power to heal herself or others, even from mortal wounds, by sheer force of will.

  • Healed Buffy's fatal gunshot wound in seconds.

Life Force & Soul Manipulation:
  • Willow's first true spell was the Ritual of Restoration, a spell that would re-cursed Angel and restore his soul, a feat she would later do 5 years later. Giles had stated that performing the Ritual of Restoration required a greater knowledge of magic than he could claim. He also warned Willow — who was, at that point, still an inexperienced witch — that channeling such potent magic through herself could open a door she might never be able to close.

  • Drains the life-force from things around her to power herself.

  • Drained the life-force from Anya and Kennedy to channel it into a spell to open a portal.

  • When hen she discovered how Buffy had helped Jonathan and Andrew to escape, she emitted a ear-piercing screech that could be heard a ways away and brought pain to those.

  • Willow summoned an imposing, unnamed demon in the name of Osiris (one who possibly worked for the god, in some manner, according to the script), when she couldn't bring Tara back from the natural death, she screams, and a shimmery column of energy shoots out of her mouth and at the demon. Causing the demon to scream in pain and be banished in a flash of lightning.

  • Was able to mute everyone and everything in a nightclub and return the sound.

Invisibility & Cloaking:
  • Willow had the power to make herself invisible, as she once had unintentional selective invisibility, but this ability could include others.

  • Cloaked herself and the Vice President of the United States from his bodyguards.

Curse Manipulation & Reversal:
  • Has been showed to cast many curses, such as when she attempted to curse both Oz and Veruca with magic, though stopped when Veruca arrived to kill her, only for her to be killed by Oz.

  • Cast the reversal spell for Augustine's Curse on the giant lens built by Toru and his minions, thereby making all enhanced vampires within the immediate vicinity to lose their unique powers

Interdimensional and Dimensional Travel:
  • Willow has been showed to be able to travel to other dimensions via magic or with the use of the Slayer Scythe.

  • Willow tore open reality to make a gate to Quor'toth using a ritual she found all while in a world with no magic.

Mystical Artifact Creation:
  • Created the new Seed of Wonder (which is the source of all magic on Earth) several months after the end of magic.

Extrasensory Perception:
  • Was able to find a specific person by sensing their essence.

  • Sensed the Hellmouth's activity in Sunnydale all the way in England

Power Nullification:
  • Was able to nullify Giles' spell after decoding the magic.

  • She was able to cast a mind spell despite Giles' binding spell, which cancelled out all magic.

Notable Spells:

Throughout the series, show and comics, Willow starts her journey in witchcraft with casting spells, rituals, and incantations. As she grows with her power she is able to cast spells and rituals without the use of words and chanting.

The Ritual Of Restoration:
  • This was Willow's truly first spell casted by herself. The Ritual Of Restoration is a spell that will restore a vampire's soul, in this case it was Angelus.

  • Rupert Giles, who at the time had more knowledge about using magic, had once stated that performing the Ritual of Restoration required a greater knowledge of magic than he could claim. He also warned Willow — who was, at that point, still an inexperienced witch — that channeling such potent magic through herself could open a door she might never be able to close.

    Acum!

  • Translation: What was lost, shall be found.

Not dead, nor not of the living.

I call you, spirits of the interregnum.

I call on you, Gods, do not ignore this supplication!

Let the orb be the vessel to carry his soul to him.

It is written, this power is my people's right to wield.

So be it! So be it!

    Now!

Temporal Fold Spell:
  • This spell was casted by Anya and Willow where they offer a plea to a higher deity and pour sand over the representation of the lost object, in hopes of creating a temporal fold and retrieving Anya's necklace (Vengeance Demons were given a jewel, by D'Hoffryn, to be worn at all times. This was the source of all their power, it is unknown if it truly needed or just a symbol of recognition as later D'Hoffryn turned Anya back into a Vengeance Demon without giving her an amulet or jeweled like jewelry).

  • Willow is given psychic flashes of the alternate world and causes sand to spill on her hands. As the spell ends, the alternate vampire Willow vanishes before Oz is able to stake her. This causes the alternate Willow to appear in their world.

  • This spell involves chicken feet and the ritual pouring of sand over the representation of the object desired to be pulled out of the alternate dimension.

  • Incantation: Eryishon, K'shala, Meh-uhn.

    Diprecht. Doh-tehenlo nu-Eryishon.

    The child to the mother,

    The river to the sea.

    Eryishon, hear my prayer.

"My Will Be Done" Spell:
  • This spell was meant to project the desires of a witch or warlock into reality simply by stating their desire. Willow Rosenberg used this spell, in hopes of being able to get over Oz. However, she only managed to trigger the spell when she spoke sarcastically.

  • By casting this spell, she managed to: blind Rupert Giles, teleported both Spike and Buffy Summers just outside the latter's dorm and then later caused the two of them to become engaged, and caused Xander Harris to literally become a demon magnet

  • This was the first spell Willow misused for selfish reasons. She reversed this with the "My Will Be Safe" spell.

  • Incantation: Harken all ye elements, I summon thee now.

    Control the outside, control within.

Land and sea, fire and wind.

Out of my passions, a web be spun.

From this eve forth, my will be done.

    So mote it be.

Simulated Sunlight Spell:
  • This spell was an attempt made by Willow Rosenberg to create a simulated floating ball of sunlight to help Buffy dust nests and big groups vampires. However, Willow had stated that the spell was very sensitive, and any non-ritual words would disrupt it. Anya had ignored this and continued to ask questions and tally up prices of the ingredients Willow had used, and this caused a massive argument which caused the spell to backfire before being completed and stabled.

  • The ingredients included hellebore, fleabane, salamander eyes, and bindweed. It is unknown if other ingredients were being used.

  • In the video game adaption, Chaos Bleeds, when playing as Willow you can use this spell to defeat vampires without the needed preparation shown in the series.

  • Incomplete Incantation: Spirits of life, I invoke thee. Let the gloom of darkness part before you. Let the moonlight be made pale by your presence. Spirits of light, grant my wishes...

Enhanced Strength Spell:
  • This spell was used by Willow to grant herself enhanced strength. She used this when she was corrupted by dark magic and sought to kill Andrew and Jonathan after having killed Warren. This helped aid her in her hand-to-hand fight with Buffy, in which she was able to trade direct blows with Buffy and knock out Anya almost instantly. This spell seemingly granted her a insane amount of knowledge and skill for hand-to-hand combat, enough to even make Buffy struggle in the fight (it should be made known that Buffy was holding back because she didn't want to truly hurt Willow).

  • Incantation: Da mihi vim

  • Translation: Latin for give me strength

Thick Air Spell:
  • This spell was found by Willow Rosenberg in a tome named the Darkest Magick in Giles' off-limits stack in the Magic Box. It is a powerful incantation that invoked a number of deities, it was meant to contain someone by turning the air around them as thick as tar. Willow used it in a battle against Glory, and it turned out to be strong enough to immobilize even the Hell-Goddess, who had until then seemed to be an unstoppable force.

  • This spell involved calling upon five Deities: Kali, Hera, Kronos, Thonic, and Cassiel. However, it was shown that the witch could later reactivate the spell without the need to re-invoke the Deities - instead, she would only need to say "thicken" along with a hand gesture (waving of hand/holding hand up).

  • It remains unknown as to how long this spell is able to contain its victim before the witch had to recite the invocation again.

  • Incantation: Kali, Hera, Kronos, Thonic.

Air like nectar, thick as onyx.

    Cassiel, by your second star;

Hold mine victim as in tar.

Resurrection Spell:
  • This resurrection spell was used to bring Buffy Summers back to life. In which this certain spell was required to be performed at the stroke of midnight and use necessary objects to guarantee success; this included, the Urn of Osiris, Vino de Madre, special black candles, a circle of practitioners, and the body of the deceased.

  • The caster was forced to go through a trial in order to be worthy of the life they wished to bring back. Such trials included vomiting up snakes, surface mutilation and what appeared to be painful energy manipulation

  • This spell was only allowed when a being died through mystical means, such as Buffy diving into the energy field generated by the ritual used to activate the Key. Resurrection was not allowed if the user died of natural causes, such as illness or murder as was proved when Willow attempted to resurrect her dead lover Tara had died from being shot.

  • If the spell was successful, the person's spirit was summoned from its resting place (in the case of Buffy, a heavenly dimension) to enter their body and immediately bring it back to life, also reverting the entire process of decay that her body had suffered during the months of her death.

  • Incantation: Osiris, keeper of the gate, master of all fate, hear us.

Before time and after, before knowing and nothing.

Accept our offering, know our prayer.

    Osiris, here lies the warrior of the people;

    Let her cross over.

    Osiris, let her cross over!

    Release her!

Enjoining Spell:
  • The enjoining spell was a spell performed in order to combine the essences and abilities of several individuals into a vessel. It required the use of Tarot cards, lit candles, and a magic gourd.

  • Willow acted as the spirit, Xander as the heart, Giles as the mind, and Buffy as the hand. When the spell began to take effect, the first three had their bodies immobile in trance, while the voices of all four spoke through Buffy's body. The resulting abilities were far superior than Adam's, so the Scoobies were able to successfully remove his power source, the uranium 235 core, and defeat the creature

  • Incantation: The power of the Slayer and all who wield it. Last to ancient first, we invoke thee. Grant us thy domain and primal strength. Accept us and the power we possess. Make us mind and heart and spirit enjoined. Let the hand encompass us. Do thy will. By the generous will of the Ancients, the almighty power of the Divine Spirits... Your supplicants humbly beseech thee to behold us, and that which we possess... The moieties of the One, the Avatar... Spiritus... spirit. Animus... heart. Sophus... mind. And Manus... the hand. We enjoin that we may inhabit the vessel, the hand... Daughter of Sineya... First of the ones... We implore thee: admit us. Bring us to the vessel! Take us now! We are heart... We are mind... We are spirit... From the raging storm... We bring the power of the Primeval One...

Gender Changing Spell:
  • In 2002, Willow had fallen under a love spell with the boy R.J., despite being a lesbian, and wanted to change him into a woman to accommodate her sexuality. The idea was accidentally given to her by Anya, who had sarcastically asked if Willow would magically turn R.J. into a woman to prove her love for him.

  • Willow started the incantation, calling upon the goddess Hecate, before Xander interrupted it by covering her mouth. The floating crystals stopped glowing and fell of the air.

  • The spell only required four candles and several crystals surrounding a bowl of additional crystals.

  • Incomplete Incantation: O Hecate, I call on you.

I humbly ask your will be done.

Hear my request, a simple change.

Create a daughter from a son...

"Deceitful Hearts Be Broken" Spell:
  • This was a spell used to break the relationship between two individuals. It invoked several powers from hell to ensure that the two lovers would not find love, solace, or peace from each other, converting the emotion between the two targets from love to hate.

  • Willow attempted to use the spell during her first year of college after she found out that her boyfriend Oz has been intimately involved with another werewolf, Veruca. Ultimately, Willow was not able to complete the spell, stopping abruptly just before finishing it.

  • It required sand, fire, In an empty lab, Willow had a bowl with fire over a burner and some items in front of her: a book, herbs, candles, bottles with sand, beakers, and a chalice with a round stone. She mixed ingredients with mortar and pestle. When invoking the incantation, flames arose, and the book and beakers started to float as Willow took a picture of Oz. Instead of burning it into the fire, Willow dropped the picture, giving up the spell. The fire extinguished, and the beakers shattered as they fell.

  • Incantation (Possibly Incomplete): I conjure thee,

By Barabbas, by Satanas, and the Devil.

As thou art burning, let Oz's and Veruca's deceitful hearts be broken.

I conjure thee by the Saracen Queen, and by the name of hell.

Let them find no love or solace.

Let them find no peace as well.

Let this image seal his fate, not to love, only hate...

Prey-Inversion Spell:
  • Willow cast the spell during an encounter with a Hyberrax in its native dimension, saving her ally Marrak from the creature. She stated that it was a spell that wasn't normally resorted to throughout history.

  • There was a small amount of time necessary before the spell would take effect. It resulted in a massive explosion that blew apart the target creature while leaving its prey unharmed.

  • Incantation: Elesa Hom Ekta Bliare

Slayer Activation Spell:
  • A spell continuously activated multiple Potential Slayers around the world, replacing the original Slayer line of Chosen Ones into a collective, shared power.

  • It was first performed by Willow Rosenberg in 2003 during the battle at the Hellmouth.

  • In 2003, the First Evil taunted Buffy Summers that despite her efforts, she and the Scooby Gang would not fare well against the army of Turok-Hans. The First also taunted Buffy that she would die alone. Because of this, Buffy came to realize that she could change the rules so that she and Faith Lehane were not the only activated Slayers.

Buffy then came up with a plan that would involve the witch Willow Rosenberg to tap into the essence of the mystical Slayer weapon Mʔ, which was tied to the Slayer, and rewrite the set rule of the "Chosen One." This would activate Potential Slayers worldwide and overrule the Shadowmen's original magic.

While Buffy led everyone into battle in the Hellmouth, Willow performed the ritual in the Principal's office of Sunnydale High School. She successfully channeled the power of the Slayer, allowing the Potentials to fight back against the First's army.

  • The spell required the Mʔ (Slayer Scythe) as a key instrument. While chanting surrounded by lit candles, Willow channeled her energy to the Scythe. After a few seconds, the weapon began to glow, and the spell took effect.

  • The spell temporarily turned Willow's hair white, reflecting the good magic of the spell, in contrast to her past dark Willow persona while performing dark magic. Then, she dropped on the floor, exhausted, exclaiming in contentment: "Ha! That was nifty." As the Slayers were activated, they were able to feel to surge of power inside them, causing them to be initially confused, but otherwise more confident and connected.

Another effect of the spell was that it allowed Willow to sense the Slayers being activated elsewhere, long after the spell has been completed. Not all Potentials were instantly called, but caused them to become receive their true power upon reaching a certain age and maturity. This was notable with the Slayer Soledad, who was activated in her 15th birthday, two years after the spell was performed.

Slayer Reversal/Slayer Power Spell:
  • This spell was a reversal of the Slayer activation spell performed by Willow Rosenberg, concentrating the power of all currently active Slayers into a single person.

  • To defeat the Pandora Project's leader, Joanna Wise, who had turned herself into a magic-infused cyborg much stronger than a Slayer, Buffy performed with Willow a reversal spell of the activation of the Potential Slayers they had done in 2003. Willow explained that Buffy had shared what made her special with all Potentials, and the power had grown in each of them.

Using the mʔ weapon once again, Willow was able to put the grown powers of thousands of Slayers back in Buffy, giving her the ability to even cut magic with its blade, heal in two seconds an attack of Rain of Death, and survive a even more powerful magical attack that burned half of her skin. After defeating Wise and eventually healing herself, Buffy and Willow used the Scythe to return all the power back to the Slayers.
