Tiana's History

Tiana is a timid Serra Angel artificer from Dominaria, who was the guardian and chief engineer of the new Skyship Weatherlight as part of Jhoira's crew. She has a natural affinity with the ship and inherent knowledge of its workings.

Tiana was created as a Guardian Angel in the Cathedral of Serra in answer to the prayers of mortals. She was specifically tasked by Lyra Dawnbringer with the protection of the Great Machine, an intricate irrigation system of lifts and engines that carried water from a reservoir up the side of a plateau to the town built atop it. However, the Great Machine was destroyed by the Cabal before she could set her eye on it. With her unable to fulfill her purpose, she was only used as an errant angel afterward and felt very useless.

When the raising Weatherlight became known to the Church, they begin immediate plans to send a representative to crew the ship. Because the Weatherlight is powered by a sacred relic of the Serran faith, a powerstone containing Serra's Realm, Tiana was appointed by the church to guard the recovery and rebuilding of the ship and to ensure that the relic would be properly venerated.

Once aboard, Tiana discovered that she quite enjoyed the practical work of keeping the Thran Engine running. She was adept at mending both machines and magical blessings, with a mere touch or whispered word. When the Weatherlight attacked the Cabal Stronghold, Tiana was in the midst of the fight and saved Liliana from an attack by Urgoros and the massive mutant frog known as Yargle. With the subsequent fall of the Cabal, Tiana continued her service aboard the Weatherlight, viewing it as her new calling.

Tiana served aboard the Weatherlight during the New Phyrexian invasion of Dominaria in support of the New Coalition. During one of their missions, the Weatherlight was beset by the skeleton dragon Bladewing and despite coming out victorious, the ship was forced to the ground Alongside Shanna Sisay and Rafwyn Capashen, Tiana helped to free Braids, who had lead them to some spare Thran parts in exchange for their assistance before they returned to the downed Weatherlight. The group quickly discovered the ship had finally succumbed to the Phyrexian infection that had been spreading through the ship and Tiana rushed in to save as much of the crew as she could. She was only able to retrieve Slimefoot and the powerstone before the now sentient ship fled, lamenting her second failure to protect her charge.
