Rose Roche's History

Rose Roché was the assistant (and lover) of the industrialist Michael Marchand, the brother of Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew).

After Jessica Drew got Michael the data to save his daughter, Rebecca, from an illness that had affected both women, he was afraid that, since Rebecca didn't have Jess' superpowers, the cure might have dangerous consequences. To assure its safety, he wanted to test it first, and Rose volunteered to be the test subject, granting her spider powers similar to Spider-Woman. However, all the data was promptly corrupted by a fail-safe on the floppy disk, leaving Michael with no way to cure Rebecca. With Michael feeling like he had ruined everything, Rose told him not to worry and proceeded to hire mercenaries to break into Jessica's house and recover her backup of the file.

When Jess found out Michael was responsible for the attack on her house, she confronted her brother and learned of Rose's part in the plan. Promising to think about their dilemma, Jess went home, only to return that night to try and destroy the array that had given Rose her powers. While trying to sneak in, Jess encountered Rose and the two fought. Unbeknownst to Jess, at the same time, Michael was using the array on himself with a serum of his own as a catalyst. Developing his own set of spider powers, Michael confronted Jess, overpowering her while blaming his woes in life on her.

With her pheromone powers, Rose then mind-controlled Jess to take Rebecca and fly a helicopter rigged to explode. The two women managed to escape, but ran into Rose and Michael at Michael's apartment. Rose then fought Rebecca while Michael dealt with Jessica, but Rebecca and Jess were victorious with Jess knocking Michael unconscious and Rebecca injecting Rose with a serum that removed her powers and, accidentally, stripped her of her youth as well. As the evil duo was being taken by the police, Rose assured Rebecca that she truly loved her father.
