Ramrod 2's History

Ramrod 2 was the final and improved version of the Ramrod, the central multi-purpose super-robot the team of main protagonists in Saber Rider and the Star Sheriffs piloted and controlled.

Ramrod and Ramrod 2 could be used as a flying vessel capable of spaceflight and atmospheric flight, as well as transform into an upright-standing super-robot.

In its transformed state, like many similar robots and mobile suits in popular animated series of that time, Ramrod 2 was capable of melee fighting (against Super-Robots of similar size, which were controlled by the antagonistic extradimensional race called Outriders), as well as of shooting lasers and other explosive projectiles.

Ramrod and Ramrod 2 were also amphibious (== could fight underwater), and very durable.

Not only was Ramrod unaffected by e.g. being submerged in and fighting in molten lava, but eventually, in the final episodes of the animated series, Ramrod 2 also proved it was durable and powerful enough to tank, neutralize and overpower the explosive blast of the so-called Cobalt Blue Blaster.

The Cobalt Blue Blaster was an extremely devastating weapon used by the enemies of the Star Sheriffs, considering that in the episode "Alamo Moon" it blew up an entire moon with a single shot, and later, after recharging its power, the Cobalt Blue Blaster threatened to do the same to an entire planet.
