Prototypes's History

The Great Library

The Library stretched on endlessly, shelves upon shelves full of books. But these were no ordinary books - they contained the stories and histories of all possible worlds, real and imaginary.

The Librarian was one of the Pataphysical beings who oversaw the Library. They existed beyond all definitions, shaping fiction but never fully part of it. When a new story was conceived, they would add it to the Library, where it joined countless other tales.

One day, a young girl wandered into the Library. The Librarian watched as she wandered the aisles in wonder, pulling books off the shelves and reading their stories. The girl began to ask questions.

"Who wrote all these stories?" she asked.

"They were not written," the Librarian replied. "They simply are."

"But someone had to think of them," the girl insisted.

The Librarian paused, unsure how to explain the nature of fiction to this curious child. Finally, they said "The stories exist because we imagine them. We give them life through our minds."

The girl nodded slowly. "So we are the prototypes. We create the stories that become real in their own way."

The Librarian smiled. "In a sense, yes. Imagination gives rise to fiction."

The girl beamed. "That means I can imagine a new story for your Library!" She closed her eyes in thought. As she began to speak, a new book appeared on the shelf - the first of many she would author in the Great Library of fiction.
