Oketra (God-Eternal)

Oketra's History

The cat-headed Oketra was the Amonkhet god of stability, order, and protection that was turned into an interplanar war machine by Nicol Bolas.

After her physical death at the hands of her twisted brother, the Scorpion God, Oketra's body was taken by Bolas's servants to be mummified and coated in the magical metal known as Lazotep. When she emerged from this process, she was completely subsumed by her master's will and became a key part of the Dreadhorde for the coming invasion of Ravnica.

During the War of the Spark on Ravnica, she came through the planar bridge as a God-Eternal in Bolas's army. Her presence was a major boon for Bolas's forces as she felled numerous powerful beasts and beings that sought to fight back against the invaders while simultaneously resurrecting any fallen Eternals around her. While under Liliana's command she took a shot at Gideon with her bow, as he charged at Bolas to deliver the killing blow. However, Liliana made her miss, the Divine Arrow impaling Gideon's Pegasus instead, leaving Gideon tumbling through the air to be rescued by Rakdos. After she repented, Liliana commanded the zombified Oketra and Bontu to attack Bolas. As Oketra and Bontu advanced, Nicol Bolas remained confident and defiant but was surprised by Niv-Mizzet, who impaled the God-Pharaoh through the back with Hazoret's spear. Bolas managed to obliterate Oketra, but the distraction gave Bontu the opening to bite Bolas and despark him, avenging the fallen gods of Amonkhet at last.
