Obsidian Fury's History

Obsidian Fury makes its debut during the PPDC Council's meeting to decide the fate of Shao Industries's drone program. After an initial missile barrage and destroying the harbor defenses, Obsidian Fury engaged Gipsy Avenger in battle. The drone maintained the upper hand throughout the fight until Mako Mori's transport was downed. With its mission accomplished, it returned to the sea.

Obsidian Fury would emerge again when Gipsy Avenger was dispatched to Siberia to investigate a jaeger production facility. The battle was at first fairly even until Gipsy Avenger started using more unorthodox tactics. Obsidian Fury couldn't cope and its power core was ripped from its body. The front of its "face" was then ripped off by Gipsy Avenger and Obsidian Fury's nature as a kaiju controlled jaeger was discovered.

This revelation would spur the PPDC to action against the drone program and Newt's plans to bring back the kaiju. Obsidian Fury's plasma chainswords would also be incorporated into Gipsy Avenger to replace the sword it had lost.
