Niv-Mizzet's powers and abilities

Dragon Physiology - Niv-Mizzet is the last of the great dragons of Ravnica and wields all of the associated natural capabilities of one, such as fire breathing and flight. Niv also possesses a natural affinity for elemental control, most notably lightning and thunder.

Intellect - Niv-Mizzet is possibly one of the most intelligent beings in the multiverse. He has created entirely new spells and magical elements (such as the indestructible and easily forgeable Mizzium) and even gone so far as to give life to a new kind of elemental, the Weirds, which are composed of opposing elements. He has also taken to creating smaller clones of himself for tasks that require more power than one of his normal minions can muster. His memory is impossibly precise, allowing him to remember and recite the entirety of the Guildpact despite having only seen in 10,000 years before later transcribing it onto a water droplet. His achievements in magical science are immense and impossible to properly list.

The Firemind - Niv-Mizzet possesses his own brand of telepathy that goes beyond the normal confines associated with that ability. He can forge connections with those he deems worthy, granting them access to his immense knowledge and (supposed) omniscience, although this can cause a type of insanity called firemadness. He can also resist most telepathic and mind based assaults without much difficulty.

The Living Guildpact - Upon his resurrection, Niv absorbed the power of the Guildpact into himself. While granting him control over the binding laws of Ravnica, it also granted him an immense increase in his base power, which was already formidable enough to gain the attention of Nicol Bolas. This new power allowed him to effortlessly kill the Zombie God Kefnet.

Niv-Mizzet's weaknesses

Arrogance/Temper - Niv-Mizzet is an inherently arrogant being and can lose sight of himself due to his supposed superiority. When this self-image is shattered, he will retreat, such as his defeat by the Nephilim, or charge deeper into an unwinnable situation, such as with his battle with Nicol Bolas (although this can be seen as part of Niv's plan to buy time for the Ravnican resistance).
