Ms. Marvel's History

Early Life

Born to Yusuf Khan and an unnamed wife, Kamala Khan was the second child, the eldest being her brother Aamir. From a young age, she was a fan of the Avengers, drawing pictures of them and writing fan fiction about them. Kamala's biggest idol was Carol Danvers, who operated both as Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel.

Events of Marvel's Avengers

A-Day

Before A-Day, Kamala submitted one of her stories about the group confronting "Sewer Lizards" for the fanfiction contest. Chosen for the finals, she and her father attended the event on their helicarrier, the Chimera. Collecting comics throughout the event to access the VIP balcony, she met several members of the Avengers, including Thor, Captain America, and Black Widow. Kamala also witnessed George Tarleton and Monica Rappaccini talk about something they had worked on and Phil Sheldon interview Nick Fury about the Terrigen energy crystal. Whilst watching the main event, an attack on the Golden Gate Bridge occurred, prompting her father to call for them to leave.

After A-Day

Sometime after the event, Kamala underwent Terrigenesis, emerging with Morphogenetic abilities. With AIM promoting agendas that targeted Inhumans, she kept her abilities to herself and her father, who encouraged her to hide them. Hoping to one day become a superhero, Kamala set up her own headquarters within an abandoned water tower, where she trained her powers and abilities. She also began following the anti-AIM organization called "The Resistance", which she aided in secret.

Reassembling the Avengers

Five years after the events of A-Day, Kamala investigated a lead left by one of the Resistance members, which used Tony Stark's Stark Industries account to access AIM's servers. Correctly guessing his password, she attempted to copy the data to a flash drive but was discovered and hacked. Forced to disconnect it, Kamala retreated to her headquarters and investigated the data on a spare laptop. Finding she had only downloaded a seemingly corrupted file, she learned that Tarleton had locked Captain America in the Terrigen reactor room, contradicting his accounts of his event. Contacted by a member calling themselves "Tiny Dancer", Kamala was informed that AIM was now aware of her actions and told to meet them at Heroes Park.

Navigating to their meeting point, Kamala found a mourner paying tribute to Captain America. Believing him to be Tiny Dancer, she interfered when he was set upon by a group, accidentally revealing her powers in the process. With Drones and Synthoids searching for her through the park, Kamala fled through the sewers, only to be ambushed and knocked out by Rappaccini. Upon regaining consciousness, she found herself in the back of the car with Monica and Tarleton, the latter having also become an Inhuman during A-Day and gained the ability of technokinesis. Offered treatment for her abilities, Kamala declined and fled the scene, fighting her way through the devices sent after her.

Making her way to a bus station, Kamala decided to find the Resistance and show them her discovery, believing it could help their cause. After leaving messages telling her family she'd gone on a retreat with her friends, she traveled to the Chimera's remains in Utah, believing it to be their base of operations. However, Kamala instead discovered Hulk to be residing there, having gone into exile after the events of A-Day. During a fight with AIM's devices, Kamala overexerted herself after "embiggening", falling unconscious in the middle of the battle.

Upon waking, Kamala found Bruce Banner taking care of her, during which he'd taken blood samples. As he was reluctant to become involved, she showed him the video, convincing him to search out Stark and help expose Tarleton. Needing Stark's AI J.A.R.V.I.S. to track him down, they visited the Olympia Archive, only to discover that AIM had made a research station at the location. As Hulk fought his way through the forces, Kamala navigated the vents undetected. Within the labs, she discovered that they had been experimenting on Inhumans. Eventually locating the Archive, Kamala discovered J.A.R.V.I.S.'s hard drive and discovered AIM was experimenting on "curing" Inhumans. Whilst returning to the Chimera, she began to consider whether they could help her powers.

After helping Bruce reactivate J.A.R.V.I.S., the two traveled to the Russian Wilderness to obtain a neural link for him. During the process, they discovered a vault set up by Fury containing SHIELD protocols, which were set up in case the organization was compromised. After testing the H.A.R.M. room, Kamala accompanied Bruce to Golden Acres to recruit Tony Stark. When he proved reluctant to take help, she showed him the video, only for him to reveal it was actually encrypted. With Stark agreeing to help, Kamala helped him and Hulk fight AIM forces controlled by Tarleton.

Finding she could not help the repairs, Kamala decided to create a costume to hide her identity and help the Avengers, using an old burkini for the base. When the Avengers planned to separate attacks to obtain resources to repair the Chimera, Kamala and Bruce investigated the Utah Badlands to search for Initiator Cores to repair the engines. However, they discovered that area was patrolled by members of the Watchdogs and that the wreckages were empty. This, coupled with not finding the Resistance, demoralized Kamala, leading her to question whether she was the only Inhuman fighting AIM.

As they prepared to leave, a group of Resistance members appeared and transported them to the Ant Hill, where they met with former Avengers member Hank Pym. Whilst there, Kamala met with other Inhuman members, including twins Theo and Cerise. At Hank's request, she, Hulk, and Iron Man attacked AIM's Venture Ridge research base to uncover evidence of Inhuman experimentation. After this, Kamala met Dante Pertuz and learned about AIM's Black Mesa prison complex. With Bruce and Hank unwilling to orchestrate and attack, Kamala defied them to attack the facility and rescue the Inhumans there. However, she was quickly detected and, during a fight, once again overexerted herself after embiggening, leading to her capture.

Briefly regaining consciousness, Kamala overheard a conversation between Rappaccini and a heavily mutated Tarleton. During it, she learned that AIM's cures had only been temporary measures, with many actually killing the Inhumans rather than reverting their abilities, and that the program was being abandoned. Whilst Monica observed her existing files, Kamala noticed that she was using a captive as a source for her serum and the Ambrosia satellite, before being rendered unconscious by the scientist.

Eventually, Black Widow broke into the facility to rescue her, during which she freed the other captive Inhumans. Unlike the others, Kamala chose not to leave her cell despite protests from them. Doubting her potential and worrying about her over-exerting again, she planned to return home and no longer operate as a "superhero". Eventually, Widow found her and convinced her to come along, during which she revealed she was a "Tiny Dancer". Her confidence renewed, Kamala followed her to the newly fixed Chimera and met with Bruce, to who she apologized for her actions.

During Bruce's interrogation of Monica, Kamala observed with the rest of the reassembled Avengers. Shortly after it finished, AIM forces attacked the Chimera, forcing them to respond. Making her way to the control room, Kamala protected the energy cores and J.A.R.V.I.S.'s files from Tarleton. Whilst the other Avengers fought Tarleton's Dreadbots, she helped Tony defend the engine room and later protected the command deck. During the attack, Thor returned and helped her repower the engines, preventing them from crashing into Manhattan.

With the Avengers reassembled and reintroduced with Thor, Kamala showed the unencrypted footage, hoping that they finally had incriminating proof against Tarleton. However, it instead showed that Captain America had told Tarleton to lock him in and destroy the reactor, causing the crash. Shocked at the discovery, Kamala watched as the Avengers argued and once again separated. As Bruce and Tony became more heated in an argument, she failed to stop a fight from erupting between them, leading to SHIELD and Inhumans fleeing. Left alone, Kamala explored the empty Chimera. Believing that there could still be some way to expose AIM, she observed Monica's interrogation footage to find something.

After some time, Kamala became demotivated and voiced the wish to talk to her father, leading J.A.R.V.I.S. to call him. Too shocked to speak, she listened as he reassured her and apologized for telling her to hide her powers. As the call finished, Kamala became motivated to continue the investigation. Quickly, she realized that the Lab was not located on Earth but on the Ambrosia satellite. Suspecting they could incriminating evidence there, Kamala opened communications to the Avengers and delivered a speech to them, imploring them to put aside their grudges and help her investigate. With Hulk and Iron Man returning, she told them about her discoveries, leading them to realize Monica had hidden something on Ambrosia that she wanted to keep away from Tarleton.

The group formulated a plan to restart and use Project Starboost to send Stark into space to get to the satellite and discover its contents. Needing Pym Particles to shrink down the rocket components needed to boost Stark into Space, they agreed with Pym to break into Meridian facility to require his research. With Widow rejoining them and the Resistance providing a distraction, Kamala joined the Avengers to break into the facility and acquire the particles. Evacuated by Theo, they also help protect the Ant Hill and destroy an attacking AIM Warbot. Before Iron Man left to investigate Ambrosia, Kamala uploaded a song for him to listen to during the mission.

When Stark returned with Captain America and Thor, Kamala met the previously missing Avenger, commenting she'd suspected he had survived. Attending the meeting, she agreed to help them face AIM and uncover Tarleton's true goal.

Confronting MODOK

After the discovery that Tarleton was planning to wipe out all Inhumans with the Dark Terrigen project, Kamala joined the Avengers in stopping them. In addition, the group gave her a new costume to wear. While Captain America, Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor provided a distraction, Kamala and Black Widow infiltrated San Francisco Bay facility to unlock the area. This was helped by Tarleton, now calling himself MODOK, specifically targeting Cap to "break" the Avengers apart.

While the other Avengers fought MODOK in the excavation site, Kamala and Hulk worked to rescue captive Inhumans. During it, they engaged the AIM forces sent to stop them. When MODOK retreated to the Kree Sentry, Kamala initially did not get involved, instead of helping the other Inhumans evacuate. However, when Hulk was overpowered by the Sentry, she leaped into the conflict to save him, stopping MODOK from crushing him with the device's arm.

Whilst holding it off, Kamala recalled Natasha's words at Black Mesa and realized that she needed to stop holding back, embiggening herself to match the Sentry's size. Using her new size, she was able to overpower MODOK, pointing out how he had squandered his powers in a selfish goal. To finish off the sentry, she impaled it on one of the Golden Gate Bridge's support towers, deactivating the device and causing MODOK to fall into the sea. Moments later, she fell unconscious from overexcitation.

Returned to the Chimera, Kamala awoke with Banner and the Avengers watch, praising her for what she did. At her request, the group let her return home to visit her family. Slipping back into her room, Kamala reunited with her father. Though he officially grounded her for leaving without notice, Abu was aware of her actions and allowed her to join the Avengers. Taking her things to the Chimera, Kamala decided to use Carol Danvers' old identity of "Ms. Marvel", a choice the other Avengers approved of.

Reigning Supreme

After learning Rappaccini had been promoted to AIM's Scientist Supreme, Kamala continued to battle against them with the Avengers. During these, she helped gather more SHIELD protocols from hidden vaults and protect Inhumans. Ms. Marvel also joined Hulk on several missions to stop experiments with Gamma Radiation, during which they confronted Abomination a second time. Ms. Marvel also helped in several investigations into AIM's Hives.

After a fight with a clone of Rappaccini, Kamala met with the other Avengers on the Chimera. During it, she learned they had decided to make her a full-time member, given that she had helped reassemble them and helped defeat MODOK. Shocked and enthusiastic of the offer, Kamala accepted, vowing to not let them down.

Taking AIM

After a series of Tachyon Rifts began to occur across Earth, Ms. Marvel joined the other Avengers in investigating their cause. After one of the excursions, she met Hawkeye's protégé and former-Avenger in training Kate Bishop. Kamala joined Kate on several missions, including an investigation into the source of the disruptions. After rescuing Hawkeye and shutting down AIM's Time Gate, she learned that Kate had decided to join the team permanently, appearing excited by her recruitment. Kamala also joined the meeting with Barton about the future he visited, during which she learned of the Kree Empire's upcoming invasion and their need to prepare.
