Moira Burton's History
Early life
Moira was born around 1991, and lived in Raccoon City by 1998 while her father served in the Special Tactics and Rescue Service. In July, the lives of Polly, Kathy and Moira were threatened by Umbrella mole Albert Wesker, insisting he would have them killed if Barry didn't help him cover-up the viral outbreak during "X-Day". The three were saved when Wesker went into hiding after faking his death. When it became clear Umbrella was now hunting down the surviving S.T.A.R.S. members; Kathy, Moira, and Polly were moved to Canada while Barry planned to investigate Umbrella HQ with Chris Redfield.
After the Burton family moved to Canada, Moira and Polly were playing in the house one day and Moira found Barry's guns unlocked. Unprepared for what to expect, when Moira took one it accidentally went off in her hands and resulted in injuring Polly. Thankfully, their father found them and urged Moira to call the ambulance. Polly survived, though Barry's sudden reaction to the events and lashing out verbally at Moira caused a rift between father and daughter and led to Moira becoming more rebellious against the stubborn Barry.
With the influence of her close friend, Claire Redfield, Moira eventually decided that she would join TerraSave. Barry disapproved greatly of this decision as he didn't want his family anymore involved in Bioterrorism than they already were, but this only caused Moira to want to join even more. By 2011, Moira Burton was finally inducted into the NGO as their newest full-time member.

Moira attended a party in 2011 at TerraSave headquarters after becoming the newest member to the NGO. She was excited to get started working alongside her closest friend, though she still experienced conflict with her father, cursing him for trying to tell her what to do and remain uninvolved. The celebration was short-lived as a paramilitary group launched an attack on the headquarters, injecting a number of TerraSave members with a new virus and taking them hostage, whisking them away to a secluded island.
When Moira awoke, she found she had been fashioned with a strange bracelet and left alone in a locked prison cell. Thankfully it wasn't long before Claire managed to find her and the cell door mysteriously opened. Together, the two attempted to find a way out of the abandoned facility. Along the way, Moira came into possession of a flashlight and a crowbar to use in defense. Although Claire was able to find guns and insisted Moira to use one, the event with her younger sister left a poor impression on Moira. Left with a fear of even others using guns around her, Moira did her best to pull her weight with what she could manage as they found they were not alone in the prison - former residents of the island, mutated by the virus, began to attack them on sight. Before they could escape, the two also found fellow TerraSave member Gina Foley who died shortly thereafter from wounds after being attacked by the creatures inside the prison.
As they neared the exit of the prison, the two were contacted through their bracelets by a mysterious woman who began to taunt them with quotes from Franz Kafka, taunting them with the promises of fear.
Moira makes a desperate plea for help.
Finally managing to escape the prison, Moira and Claire were contacted again by the woman. Calling herself the Overseer, she urged the two to find their way to a place called the Wossek - "the place where all things begin." They managed to find a radio tower nearby where Claire climbed to the top of the tower to turn on the signal power and Moira attempted to send out a distress signal. However, there was no indication of the message being received and as Claire discovered they were trapped on an island, they decided to continue on as the sun was beginning to set. They eventually managed to find their way to an old fishing village which was home to a tavern called the Wossek.
Moira stayed outside as Claire went to inspect first, finding they weren't the first to arrive - fellow TerraSave members Gabriel Chavez and Pedro Fernandez had also managed to survive and followed the Overseer's instructions. Grateful to find other survivors, the four took a moment to collect their thoughts and share the events that transpired. Soon after, the Overseer contacted the four of them again, finally telling them of the experiment they were involved in. Everyone taken was injected with a new virus that was developed to respond to fear. Moira was less than pleased to discover that someone had infected her, though Gabe tried to calm everyone.

Moira and Claire were shown a helicopter Gabe found, left behind by a traveler and though Moira was skeptical about being able to find what they needed to repair it, Gabe and Claire were optimistic. Together with Pedro, they managed to find a new battery and fuel for the helicopter. As Gabe continue repairs, their escape plan was brought to a halt as the Overseer activated an alarm, drawing the attention of the nearby Afflicted. Moira helped Claire and Pedro to shut down the siren and fight off attackers, but in the process Pedro became overwhelmed with fear and Moira witnessed firsthand the effects of the virus as his body twisted and mutated.
Unable to defeat him or return to Gabe, Moira and Claire were forced to flee until their senior in TerraSave, Neil Fisher, appeared on the Wossek's rooftop. He lowered a ladder for them and led them around outside of the village and to the sewers below to escape their mutant coworker.
As Neil led them through the sewer beneath an abandoned city on the island, Claire introduced Neil and Moira. When Neil regarded her as the daughter of Barry Burton, Moira made it a point to tell him to never say so again. On their way to the tower where it was suspected the Overseer was broadcasting her signal from, Neil became separated from them, using himself as bait to lead Afflicted away. Although Moira noticed through the whole ordeal that Neil's bracelet color remained green, she kept the sinking feeling to herself.
Moira and Claire spotted a little girl as they continued through the city and pursued her, eventually managing to catch up to her inside one of the abandoned buildings. Claire attempted to question her briskly, but Moira interjected, treating Natalia softly and sweetly. Moira asked Natalia the name of her friend - her teddy bear, Lottie - and remarked that they must both be very brave for making it that far. Natalia agreed to stay with Moira and Claire, but it wasn't for long. As they exited the building, they witnessed Gabe trying to escape in the repaired helicopter until the Overseer sabotaged it, sending the vehicle spinning out of control. Moira didn't realize until it was too late that in the midst of the mayhem, Natalia had gone missing.
Outside of the tower, Moira and Claire found a note from Neil leading them to a nearby factory. Remembering what she saw of Neil before, Moira was suspicious of Neil's intentions in the note but trusted Claire enough to follow. The Overseer continued to taunt them, welcoming them to the Kierling - "where all things come to an end." After toiling over the Overseer's puzzles, the two walked right into her trap which where they were forced to flee from a burning building before it collapsed. Realizing they were expected to have perished, Moira and Claire decided to launch a sneak-attack against the Overseer by sneaking into the tower through the sewer. Along the way, Moira was briefly held at gunpoint by an old Russian man who simply and rudely demanded they leave, wishing no part in what they were doing and refusing to help, much to Moira's annoyance.

Finally reaching the tower, Neil was still nowhere to be found and Moira finally gave in to her gut, telling Claire of her observation. Her friend quickly dismissed the idea but shortly after, the two found evidence of Neil's involvement. Along with his list of candidates for the Overseer's experiment, they watched over a security feed as Neil confronted the Overseer, demanding she hold up her side of the bargain by giving him a sample of the Uroboros virus. He was suddenly infected with the sample by the Overseer, revealing that she knew he was the protege of Morgan Lansdale and intended to use it to create an outbreak to warrant the return of the Federal Bioterrorism Commission, making Moira and Claire aware of his true motive.
Moira was concerned for Claire after finding out the truth and the two found the elevator to the top of the tower where they were forced to confront Neil in the midst of being overwhelmed by the virus. After succumbing to the infection, Neil attacked. Moira and Claire managed to hold their own, eventually destroying the core over his heart. Though as they tried to escape through the same elevator, Neil attacked Moira, trying to envelop her completely with his mutated tentacles. Claire saved her, attacking Neil with her knife and sending the three of them crashing to the ground. Neil went on the offensive again, falling on top of Claire before she could shoot him and sending her handgun sliding away. As Claire struggled with him, Moira forced herself to crawl toward the gun, her mind overwhelmed with the recurring memory of what happened to her little sister. Overcoming her fear, she grabbed Claire's gun and promptly emptied the magazine into Neil's head, saving Claire's life.
Moira and Claire reached the top of the tower, finding the Overseer's apparently living quarters where they discovered her name was Alex Wesker, the only remaining survivor of the project that also resulted in Albert Wesker. With the knowledge of who they were facing, they confronted Alex who kept herself behind protective glass as she explained to them how she conquered fear and would follow her "brother" into "escaping death." Alex suddenly shot herself in the head, causing the self-destruct system to activate in the tower. They tried to escape, running along fallen pipes and walkways until Moira noticed debris from the tower above falling. She quickly shoved Claire out of the way and became trapped beneath it in the process, the walkway between them destroyed. Although Claire desperately tries to save her, Moira urged her to escape before passing out.
Survivalism
When Moira came to, she found that she was back in the sewers beneath the tower and had been taken in by the old man she and Claire encountered. She noticed her bracelet at turned red and never changed color again, nor did she ever mutate. Despite a seemingly tense relationship, the old man let her stay until she had recovered. Eight weeks later, Moira started to help with hunting game and find her own food, as well as her own ammunition. Although she had survived so far, the situation was less than favorable for Moira as she found the old man too much like her father and urged him to work with her to try and find a way off the island. He refused stubbornly though it didn't stop Moira from wanting to try.
During the course of her time on the island, Moira began to think back on her father, having a nightmare involving her father being on his deathbed all alone. Still determined to escape, Moira accidentally attracted the attention of Afflicted to the location of their hideout. Forced to deal with it primarily on her own, Moira and the old man managed to fend off the attackers and keep them away from the place they called home. This did not take away from the old man's anger and disappointment and the same Moira felt at having messed up. It was at this point Moira swore to herself to be better, focusing more on surviving the island instead of simply running away from it.
Almost six months after the collapse of the tower, Moira and the old man noticed a new type of monster show up which began to kill all of the game on the island rampantly. In an attempt to stock up, the old man kept watch as Moira raided the fishing village for supplies. Among the items they find was a list of names, people on the island who had been taken to the mines. One of the names stuck out to the old man - Irina. She later found out the girl was his daughter who had gone missing. In the time, Moira began to consider their relationship more, not only noting his deteriorating health but also realizing she had never learned his name and so she never told him her name either, settling for being referred to as kroshka.
Moira helped the old man search for signs of his daughter which inevitably led them to the mine on the island. After being able to clear the area of monsters, they searched until Moira happened upon a a note that had been written by Irina in the midst of being mutated by experiments performed by Alex. Watching the old man read the note, Moira became more determined than ever to survive, realizing she didn't want to put her own father through such an ordeal. She swore that she would survive and repair their relationship. It was soon after this that Moira found a BSAA badge that belonged to her father, discovering that he had come to the island looking for her.
With this news, she returned to the old man only to find that he had locked her out. She tried desperately to get him to open the door, telling him they can finally get off of the island, but the old man insisted that just as he had lived on the island, he would die on the island along with his daughter. He urged her to go on and find her way off as she did not have to suffer the same fate. After he called her kroshka one last time, Moira told him her name and demanded he finally ask. Remarking that she should "wash her mouth out with soap" due to her language, he finally called her by name. The last thing he said to her was his name - Evgeny.
With her road with Evgeny at an end and her way off the island in sight, Moira sought out her father and eventually followed his trail to a cave beneath the island. She arrived just in time to find Natalia in the grasp of a mutated Alex Wesker. Moira opened fire, shooting Alex repeatedly and forcing her to drop the young girl. Barry was surprised to see that his daughter had survived all this time, certain that she was dead, and the two shared a brief touching moment before Alex began to mutate further. Moira directed the two to the ladder she lowered, helping them escape out of the cave but right to the edge of a cliff. A helicopter suddenly rose behind them, revealing Claire wielding a sniper rifle. Claire fired a single shot into Monster Alex's core, knocking her down and giving the Moira and Natalia the time needed to board the chopper. Although Moira was concerned for her father, he insisted he take on Alex alone.
Moira remained on the helicopter while Claire covered Barry until she was able to take the final shot with a rocket launcher stored on board. With Monster Alex finally destroyed, Barry boarded the helicopter and the four were finally able to leave the island together. Along the way, Barry and Moira reconciled while Claire expressed her satisfaction with how Moira was able to take care of herself on the island.
Two years later, during the height of the Lanshiang bioterror outbreaks, the Burton family prepared for the arrival of Claire for an unknown event. Moira urged her father to get ready as Claire would arrive at any moment. Moira also called after the latest addition to the family, Natalia, telling her to hurry along, unaware of the suspicious activity the young girl was up to.
