Kusanagi Blade

What is Kusanagi Blade?

History of Kusanagi Blade

The Kusanagi Blade in Naruto is a legendary weapon wielded by characters like Orochimaru and Sasuke Uchiha, each showcasing unique abilities. Orochimaru’s Kusanagi Blade can extend to extreme lengths, allowing for long-range attacks, and is incredibly sharp, capable of slicing through tough defenses like a Tailed Beast’s flesh. He can summon it from his mouth, enhance its cutting power with chakra, and it is highly durable and resistant to damage. Sasuke’s version, while lacking Orochimaru’s extending ability, is infused with his Chidori (Lightning Release), enhancing its sharpness and power while also allowing it to paralyze enemies or emit electromagnetic pulses. Sasuke wields it with precision, combining it with his Sharingan and taijutsu to deliver lethal strikes. Both versions symbolize mastery and power, with the blade’s origins tied to the mythical Japanese sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi, known for its divine strength and significance in lore. In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Boruto Uzumaki briefly uses a version of the Kusanagi Blade, which he borrows from Sasuke Uchiha during training and combat. While Boruto doesn’t wield it as skillfully as Sasuke, he demonstrates impressive adaptability with the weapon. Boruto can infuse the blade with Lightning Release chakra, similar to Sasuke’s Chidori infusion, enhancing its sharpness and cutting power. This allows him to paralyze opponents on contact and increase the blade’s effectiveness in battle. Although Boruto’s use of the Kusanagi Blade is limited compared to Orochimaru or Sasuke, it highlights his potential as a shinobi and his growing mastery of ninja tools and techniques.
