King Ghidorah (Heisei)

King Ghidorah's History

The Heisei incarnation of King Ghidorah arose as a plot by the Futurians (humans from the future) to prevent the rise of Japan as a superpower. To accomplish this, they transported the Godzillasaurus they believed was the future Godzilla to the Bering Sea and left behind a trio of synthetic creatures called Dorats in its place. The eventual nuclear test on the island would fuse and mutate the Dorats into King Ghidorah, which would emerge in 1991 under the control of the Futurians to decimate Japan.

Despite thinking they had neutralized Godzilla, he would emerge from the sea to engage Ghidorah in battle. King Ghidorah initially had the upper hand in the fight, brutally beating Godzilla down. This advantage was lost, though, when a renegade Futurian destroyed the computer controlling Ghidorah, stunning the King momentarily. Godzilla used this time to decapitate his opponent's middle head with a powered-up Spiral Heat-Ray. This did not kill Ghidorah, who attempted to flee, but was shot down by Godzilla and fell into the sea. Ghidorah would rest here until being resurrected 200 years later as Mecha-King Ghidorah.
