Kenji Onoko's History

The Fall of the Black Lotus

The Black Lotus clan had long been one of the most feared and respected ninja families in all of 15th century Japan. Ruled over by the stealthy Onoko family, they operated from their concealed mountain fortress, carrying out missions in the dead of night that other clans could not.

Kenji Onoko was born to lead the Black Lotus as his father before him. From a young age, he excelled in all the traditional ninja arts - stealth, assassination, infiltration. By his 16th year, there was no one else in the clan who could match his skills. He dreamed of restoring the Black Lotus to even greater heights.

But dark forces were at work beyond Kenji's understanding. A rival clan envied the Black Lotus' power and influence. Through tricks and manipulation, they turned Kenji's father and elder brother against each other in a bitter power struggle. Before long, the mountain was soaked with the blood of clan members killing each other.

Alone and distraught, Kenji tried desperately to save what remained of his family and call a truce. But it was too late. His father took his own life in grief and dishonor, and his brother fled, never to return. Now Kenji was the last of the Onoko bloodline standing. With a heavy heart, he realized the once mighty Black Lotus clan was no more.

In tears of agony, Kenji performed the last rites for his fallen kin under the moonlight. Then he vanished into the night, vowing to forever remain in the shadows so that the legacy of his tragic house might one day be restored. Such was the fall of the legendary Black Lotus ninja clan.
