Kefnet's History

Kefnet was the ibis-headed Amonkhet god of knowledge. After his physical death on Amonkhet, he was resurrected as a God-Eternal to serve in Nicol Bolas's invasion of Ravnica.

During the War of the Spark on Ravnica, he reappeared to aid in the destruction of Vitu-Ghazi. His appearance awed the planeswalker Tamiyo and convinced her to take part in the conflict instead of merely observing. Kefnet would operate indepently from the Dreadhorde, seeking out interesting sources of magical power. This brought him to the ceremony that was to resurrect Niv-Mizzet as the new Living Guildpact. He was confronted by Ral Zarek, who desperately sought to distract the zombified god long enough so the ritual could be completed. With nothing else seeming to work, Ral gathered all of the magical energy he could into a single massive lightning bolt that managed to disconnect Kefnet's right arm, but the Ibis God didn't seem to notice. Exhausted and facing his end, Ral was barely saved by the reemergence of Niv. The dragon then concentrated his newfound power and unleashed it against Kefnet, incinerating the god and knocking Niv out in the process.
