Kalibak

Kalibak's History

Kalibak was the son of Darkseid and the leading Apokoliptian general during the war with Earth.

Entrusted with the construction of the Boom Tube Gate to bring Apokolips to Earth, but his forces were taken by surprise by the Kryptonian Mech piloted by Kal-El. Suddenly short on resources, Kalibak made an excursion to Earth accompanied by the Furies. While there, he engaged Steve Trevor's mechanized forces and left everyone dead except for Steve and Corbett.

Kalibak's next raid would be interrupted by the newly formed Justice Squadron, who were able to prevent him from gaining as many resources as he had hoped. Kalibak did manage to defeat the poorly coordinated Batman and Superman, sowing discord within their ranks.

Kalibak next engaged Earth's forces that were launched by Lex Luthor in an attempt to destroy the Gate. Faced with unfavorable conditions for a frontal assault, Kalibak instead Boom Tubed his forces into the flanks of Humanity's armada and began ruthlessly destroying them, even going so far as to kill Steve Trevor. The battle was interrupted by the arrival of the Justice Squadron where Kal-El managed to heavily damage Kalibak's mech and render it inoperable. Infuriated by this, Darkseid intervened personally and blasted Kal-El with his Omega Beams through a Boom Tube.

Kalibak continued the construction of the Gate into its final phases several weeks later when the Green Lantern and the Flash attempted a gambit to get the Lantern in close enough to unleash all of its power on the Gate. Kalibak intercepted the Green Lantern and soon proved too much for its pilots. Realizing he had been holding John Stewart back, Hal Jordan sacrificed himself to give the now solo Green Lantern a chance. Enraged by the death of his friend, Green Lantern was able to utilize all of his power and annihilated Kalibak's mech, seemingly killing the son of Darkseid.
