Chris Redfield was an agent of the Alpha team of S.T.A.R.S. She was involved in the tragedy at the Arklay Research Facility. Although Jill and Chris worked independently, they managed to uncover the truth behind the case. They discovered that Barry Burton was not a traitor but was being manipulated by Albert Wesker, the captain of the Alpha team. Wesker was responsible for the zombie outbreak, and Umbrella was much more than just a pharmaceutical company. This experience in the Arklay Facility had lasting repercussions for Jill throughout her life. Upon their return from the mansion, Chris, Jill, and the remaining members of S.T.A.R.S. attempted to inform the authorities about Umbrella's activities. Despite their noble intentions, no investigations were initiated. Frustrated by the lack of response, they decided to investigate Umbrella themselves, focusing on the company's headquarters in Europe. Since the S.T.A.R.S. members were tasked with protecting Raccoon City, Jill chose to stay behind and investigate Umbrella's research facilities before heading to Europe to meet Chris. This decision led her to be embroiled in the Raccoon City incident.
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
After the events at the mansion, Jill returned to the city and warned everyone that Umbrella had created a virus, but no one believed her. Weeks later, the virus spread through rats, causing the city to deteriorate. Jill attempted to escape but faced numerous obstacles, including encounters with Carlos Oliveira, an operative against Umbrella's biological weapons, and Nemesis, a biological weapon sent to eliminate S.T.A.R.S. members. After being infected with the T-Virus, she eventually recovered with Carlos's help. After defeating Nemesis, Jill and Carlos escaped just before the city was destroyed.
The Raccoon City Disaster
The T-Virus spread rapidly through Raccoon City after being ingested by rats. Umbrella sent the UBCS to control the situation and deployed Nemesis to eliminate surviving S.T.A.R.S. members. Jill fled the city, constantly pursued by Nemesis, who targeted her due to her status as the last surviving member of the mansion incident.
Epilogue
After escaping, Jill aimed to reunite with Chris Redfield. However, she found only his empty hideout, leading her to believe he was still alive. She resolved to find him and together confront Umbrella.
