A long time ago, during the Heian period, a powerful onmyoji priest named Abe no Seimei was called upon to exorcise a demon that was tormenting a remote mountain village. When he came, he found the villagers living in terror. Seimei performed his rituals but was unable to find the demon as the sun was setting.giant darkness figure come out from the peak of Mount Hiei. Seimei rushed to investigate, and what he found was the demon himself as a serpent-like dragon (Lindworm) with a dark, long snaketail, calling himself an infernal beast, and the avatar of horror and destruction. As Seimei began to confront this demonic spirit, he let out an unearthly roar that shook the earth and sky. and was resistant to Seimei's magical abilities. But Seimei was strong and used all of his magic, and with one powerful magic spell, Seimei was able to imprison the hell beast back into the dark pits of Jigoku from whence it came. People were freed from the darkness of the demon, but Jigoku Kemono is not destroyed—just imprisoned.
The Age of darkness
Word of the deteriorating situation in Kyoto reached the heirs of the late great onmyoji, Abe no Seimei. In a desperate last standby battle atop Mount Hiei, where it all began, the heirs of Seimei joined forces to perform the last divine magic. The siblings channeled their divine magic. A absolute light erupted, adjure, blinding Jigoku Kemono's eldest form forever and returning the world to light. Yamashita was also freed and restored to normal. Peace was restored, and Jigoku Kemono would never cosmic darkness and horror the world again, finally destroyed by the power of Seimei's heirs.

Etymology
