Jacks Costigan (Pirate Legend)

Jacks Costigan's History

Jacks was born in the pirate nation of Meredith. In his childhood he'd practice his swordsmanship hoping to surpass his father at one point who was the pirate lord at the time, Otto Costigan. At the age of 13 though, Jacks would be kidnapped by the government within Meredith and used as a hostage. Since his father Otto wouldn't turn himself in for Jacks to be set free, Jacks was tortured for multiple months until Otto had finally shown up. But the damage had already been done to Jacks, both physically and mentally. When Jacks returned home all that he had left was his mother, Palma Costigan and his swordsmanship. And a year later at the age of 15 Jacks mother had been infected with the Black Plague which had recently began spreading. And with doctors not knowing a cure his mother Palma would die from the plague. Jacks never liked Meredith since of all of the piracy/banditry that would happen daily within even small communities, so Jacks decided to immigrate to the democratic nation of Cethegus. In Cethegus he had to live on the streets without anyone to guide him. But after Jacks had nearly died of starvation a man named Salvatore had noticed his struggles and offered him a position in his household in turn for Jacks to help Salvatore with farming. Jacks would spend another 3 years working for Salvatore until he was 18.

When Jacks was 18, he joined the military of Cethegus and using his swordsmanship and tactics became a widely recognized war hero. Jacks would be promoted to officer then commander and finally Jacks had become a candidate for the commander of the entire military after 4 long years. Jacks would win the election and stay as the military commander for another 3 years until he'd became the candidate for the next Lord of Cethegus even. Jacks took the election twice after losing the first one, but he'd became the lord at the age of 29. Jacks liked to fight and would often be seen on the battlefield despite his high ranking. One time in particular Jacks had been hit with 3 arrows in an ambush with on hitting next to his heart. With Jack nearly dying he was sent into a vision of another dimension. It was parallel to the normal world, but it had Faries, Elfs, Dwarfs, Demons ECT. In that dimension a certain building attracted him. He'd go to a large temple building and meet the witch Celeste, Celeste would alure to him offering power and his return to the real world in turn for him to find other people to praise Celeste. For a creature in that dimension the more one is praised or given offerings the more power they have in return.

Jacks, not knowing that at the time blindly accepted the offer and was sent back to the human world with a large sum of magic which he'd continue practicing in secret while still remaining king for 5 more years until at the age of 34 Joan D'marie had challenged him to a duel.
