Ithryx's History
From the moment Ithryx emerged from the Primordial Nexus, he sought to control all of Xytherra. As the god and Eternal being, he viewed the fractured worlds as nothing more than pieces on a cosmic board to be moved according to his will. For eons, Ithryx ruled from the shadows, subtly manipulating the realms, feeding on chaos and conflict to strengthen his dominion over existence.
Though he created the fractured worlds, Ithryx harbored no affection for the beings within them, especially his creations like Noxar, Arzel, and Lyris. He viewed them as tools, pawns in his greater plan to maintain absolute order and control over the universe. Lyris, with her balance between light and shadow, was an anomaly Ithryx could not tolerate. Her attempts to mediate and protect the fractured realms threatened his designs, so he devised a way to eliminate her.
The Orchestrated Death of Lyris
Ithryx foresaw the day when Noxar and Arzel’s rivalry would erupt into a devastating battle, and he knew that Lyris, with her unwavering compassion, would try to stop them. Ithryx allowed the conflict to escalate, carefully watching from his seat of power in the Primordial Nexus, knowing that Lyris would place herself between her brothers.
As expected, Lyris intervened, trying to halt the bloodshed between Noxar and Arzel. When Noxar’s fatal blow was aimed at Arzel, it was Lyris who stepped in the way, sacrificing herself in a desperate bid to save them both. Ithryx allowed this to happen, knowing that with Lyris gone, one of the last obstacles to his complete control would be removed.
The Revelation and Alliance
For a time, Ithryx’s plan seemed perfect—Lyris was dead, and the fractured worlds spiraled deeper into chaos. However, Arzel and Noxar eventually uncovered the truth: Ithryx had orchestrated Lyris’s death. Realizing they had been mere pawns in their creator’s grand scheme, the two brothers set aside their hatred for one another and, for the first and only time, teamed up against Ithryx.
Though they did not have the power to kill Ithryx—his connection to the Primordial Nexus made him nearly invulnerable—their combined strength allowed them to weaken his influence. In a climactic battle that shook the very foundations of Xytherra, Arzel and Noxar fought their creator, forcing him back into the depths of the Nexus. Ithryx’s power was diminished, but he remained, watching and waiting, knowing that as long as the fractured worlds existed, his control could one day return.
Aftermath
Though they managed to push Ithryx back, Noxar and Arzel’s fragile alliance was short-lived. Their rivalry returned stronger than ever, fueled by guilt, hatred, and the memory of Lyris’s death. Ithryx, now lurking in the shadows of the Nexus, continues to subtly manipulate the realms, waiting for the right moment to reassert his power.
The fractured worlds remain in a state of uneasy tension, with Ithryx’s dark influence ever-present, and the knowledge that the two brothers may never truly unite again hanging over them like a curse.
