Hunter's History

Hunter" was the nickname of a clone commando sergeant who served as the commanding officer of Clone Force 99 in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars.

One of the millions of clones of the bounty hunter Jango Fett, Hunter was the leader of Clone Force 99, also known as "The Bad Batch," an elite clone squadron consisting of clones with desirable genetic mutations. The force was named after the clone trooper 99, who served as maintenance on Kamino, and helped in the Battle of Kamino. Hunter's mutation gave him enhanced senses, so he could feel electromagnetic signals, which meant while maps of enemy-controlled regions may be wrong, he rarely was.

Infiltration on Anaxes

During the battle of Anaxes, the Republic army suffered severe losses as the Separatists predicted and countered their tactics, driving the Republic forces back. To stop this, Commander Cody led an elite squad to attack the Separatist Cyber Center with the aim of locating the algorithm they were using to work out these strategies. This elite squad consisted of Cody, Captain Rex, Kix, Jesse, and Clone Force 99. Early in the mission, their LAAT was shot down behind enemy lines, leading to Cody being injured and forced to evacuate alongside Kix. However, the LAAT crash gave away their position, so Hunter and the Bad Batch had to fend of an assault of droids. They charged head on with Wrecker holding the door of the LAAT in front of the four as a shield, while Hunter threw grenades, which Crosshair, the team's sniper, shot in mid-air to disable more droids. They proceeded to charge from the shield and take out spider droids in hand-to-hand combat, quickly finishing off the assault, while the rest of the group followed with Cody.

During the rest of the infiltration, Hunter had to help put down conflict between his squad and the "regs" (regular clones). As they approached the Cyber Center, they had to infiltrate and take control of a Separatist outpost, which Rex made the call to do by charging straight at them, rather then by picking them off one by one. Once again, the Bad Batch charged the droids, and the outpost was taken easily, giving them a strong vantage point on their target: the Cyber Center.

During the attack on the Cyber Center, Hunter led Clone Force 99 around the back to infiltrate the base, leaving Crosshair as a sniper and to get them out when they needed evac. He stormed the center, taking the main computer, so Tech could access the algorithm and find out what was going on. Leaving his trusted squadmate and Rex to handle the computer, Hunter and Wrecker moved to the front to assist Jesse in holding back droid forces. Eventually, Tech traced the signal to Skako Minor, and heard a clone's voice saying "CT-1409," an ARC Trooper also known as Echo, who was believed dead at the Battle of Lola Sayu. Shortly after, Crosshair arrived in a speeder, and the clone strike team returned to Fort Anaxes.

Rescuing Echo

Hunter along with Clone Force 99 accompanied Rex and Anakin Skywalker to Skako Minor to rescue CT-1409. When they arrived, they were attacked by keeradaks, a creature local to Skako, and Skywalker was taken by one. Hunter used his grappling hook to grab onto the leg of one of the creatures, and fought off a native who was riding it. Upon arriving at the native campsite, a fight broke out. After the clones subdued them, the natives revealed that they wanted no part of the war, and wanted the Republic group to leave. Tech explained that the Separatists had taken one of their men prisoner, and promised to leave as soon as they rescued him.

Later, the group arrived at the Separatist base. They scouted the location at a high vantage point, where Hunter commented on Wrecker's fear of heights. As they approached the base, the tracking signal Tech was using to locate CT-1409 stopped transmitting. This caused Hunter to voice his concerns about the mission to Rex, explaining that the likelihood of CT-1409's survival was extremely small. Crosshair chimed in, saying he didn't blame Rex for leaving Echo behind at the Citadel, stating, "He's just another reg." This angered Rex, and after a brief struggle, Anakin told Hunter to take Clone Force 99 ahead while he spoke to Rex privately. The group entered the Separatist hideout, and despite Anakin warning Clone Force 99 that this was to be a stealth operation, they stormed the base. They began searching for CT-1409, and Tech realized that the signal only transmitted when information was sent out from the source. The group split up, with Hunter accompanying Wrecker. Eventually, Rex and Tech found CT-1409, who had been turned into a cyborg and was being kept in stasis. Hunter, along with Skywalker, Wrecker, and Crosshair, fought off the incoming droid forces while Rex and Tech unplugged Echo. They made their way into the room where Echo was held, and barricaded the door while Rex and Tech helped Echo.

Escaping Skako Minor

Hunter assisted in the rescue mission once CT-1409 had been successfully unplugged. The group fought off the droids until Anakin cut a hole in the ceiling, which he used the Force to lift Hunter and the rest of the group through. When they exited the compound, the group escaped on keeradaks. They made their way to the native campsite, where a battle broke out. The natives assisted Hunter and the rest of the group, fighting the droids with them. Eventually, the droids were defeated, and Hunter escaped Skako along with the rest of the group, and returned to Fort Anaxes.

Liberating Anaxes

After returning to Fort Anaxes, Echo revealed that his cybernetic enhancements gave him access to Separatist schematics and blueprints. Hunter and the rest of Clone Force 99 were sent with Rex and Echo to destroy the Separatist fleet above Anaxes and disable their superweapon. Hunter and his comrades did not trust Echo, believing that he was a Separatist spy. The group put their plan into action, and Echo proved himself by helping Clone Force 99 on the mission. Anakin Skywalker killed Admiral Trench, and once the explosives were set, Wrecker was given the detonator and destroyed the dreadnought along with the rest of the fleet. Upon returning to Anaxes, the Bad Batch was honored for their service and commended by Jedi General Mace Windu. Hunter extended an offer to join Clone Force 99 to Echo, which he accepted.
