Huang Rong's History

Huang Rong (黃蓉) is one of the main characters alongside Guo Jing of The Legend of the Condor Heroes. The love interest and later, the wife of Guo Jing. Her amazing photographic memory traits was much believed the hereditary result by her deceased mother, who died of trying to memorize the Jiu Yin Zhen Jing under pregnancy, leading to brain fever and sudden death.

Being the daughter of the Eastern Heretic Huang Yaoshi, she had a good foundation and natural talent for martial arts, but neglected practicing them diligently. Known for her spunky, quick-thinking and adorable nature, she aids Guo Jing in many aspects throughout their adventurous journeys together.

Huang Rong met Guo Jing while pretending to be a beggar, and proceeded to easily scam him due to his naïve, good-hearted nature, which made her fall in love with him.

In their travels, the two met Hong Qigong. Huang Rong, being the expert manipulator and cook she was, got Hong Qigong to spend a month teaching Guo Jing fifteen of his Eighteen Dragon Subduing Palms.

At some point, Huang Rong was separated from Guo Jing, and she was attacked by Yang Kang, who struck her on the quilled armor she wore under her clothes at the time. As a poisoned and dying martial artist had struck her in the exact same spot not too long ago, Yang Kang contracted the venom from the quills, dying soon after and allowing her a chance to escape.

Huang Rong also bears Guo Jing's children as the mother of Guo Fu and twins Guo Xiang and Guo Polu in the sequel.
