Hag's History

Sarah Gaunt was an American student at Oxford University and a self-proclaimed witch. One day, in winter, she met a young Charles Xavier and, finding him fascinating, asked him out on a date, at which he promptly accepted. They fell in love. One day, Sarah announced that she was pregnant, but Charles was suspicious, implied it was too soon to know, and asked her what she wanted. Sarah became angry with him and accused him of ruining a beautiful moment.

Years later, Sarah was taking care of her son (who was not Xavier's) when they were caught in a hurricane. After the area flooded, Sarah and her son retreated to the roof. Unfortunately, her son was washed away and Sarah gave up trying to survive. She allowed the waters to take her as well but emerged transformed with a monstrous appearance.

Later, Sarah (now Hag) started working for Dr. Corina Ellis, the warden of Graymalkin Prison, by hunting mutants (specifically mutant children) to imprison. She became determined to murder The Outliers, who at the time were under the protection and tutelage of the X-Men. However, for some mysterious reason she couldn't reach them. Because of this, she assaulted and almost killed the X-Man, Wolverine.
