1. The yhorm the giant (Dark Souls 3)

Yhorm was asked to lead the people of the Profaned Capital who were once subjugated by his ancestor. He served loyally as both their protector and shield. However, over time some began to doubt him. To prove his trustworthiness, he gave them a sword that could slay giants. This shows he wanted desperately to protect his people. During battles, Yhorm fought valiantly as a one-man vanguard. He risked everything for the people he cared for. Yhorm lost someone dear to him, which led him to forsake his greatshield and wield his machete with both hands, fighting more ferociously. This suggests he was greatly saddened by this loss.Yhorm befriended Siegward of Catarina, who became a dear friend. Having friends as a lord must have meant a lot to the lonely Yhorm.A curse triggered a Profaned Flame that consumed the city and turned its people into greedy creatures. Yhorm was unable to save his homeland from this destruction. As a Lord of Cinder, Yhorm sacrificed himself to link the fire and stop the Profaned Flame. Yet he saw the city still laid to waste, making his sacrifice seemingly meaningless.

2. Alma wade (F.E.A.R series)

Alma was born with powerful psychic abilities, which caused her to suffer nightmares and be attuned to others' negative emotions from a young age.Her father noticed her powers shortly after birth and handed her over to Armacham for experimentation when she was only 3 years old.For the rest of her childhood, Armacham relentlessly tested and experimented on Alma to discover the source and limits of her powers. She began psychically attacking the scientists when she was 5.At age 7, Alma was recruited into Project Origin, Armacham's secret project to create psychic individuals. She was psychically "neutered" and put into an induced coma at age 8.While comatose in the Vault, Alma was repeatedly impregnated against her will and gave birth to two children - the Point Man at age 15 and Paxton Fettel at age 16.Her consciousness eventually merged with Fettel's at age 16, prompting Armacham to terminate Project Origin and remove Alma's life support at age 26.Even after death, Alma's tormented spirit and psychic powers remained trapped in the Vault with her corpse for 20 years.Throughout the games, all Alma wants is revenge against Armacham for the horrific abuse and experimentation she endured from a very young age. Her backstory is one of immense trauma, suffering and loss of freedom and autonomy.

3. Jennifer (Rule of rose)

Jennifer was the sole survivor of an airship crash that killed her parents when she was very young. She lost her memories of the accident and her previous life. After the crash, she was kidnapped and held captive in the basement of Gregory M. Wilson's home. He believed she was his deceased son and forced her to dress as a boy. Her only comfort was befriending Wendy through letters they exchanged. However, Gregory was depressed, alcoholic and unstable. Eventually Jennifer fled to Rose Garden Orphanage but faced relentless bullying from the other children, especially the Red Crayon Aristocrat Club. She bonded with a puppy named Brown but this made her "friend" Wendy extremely jealous and vengeful. Under Wendy's orders, Brown was killed by the Aristocrats. This deeply traumatized Jennifer and drove a wedge between her and Wendy. Wendy later manipulated Gregory/Stray Dog into murdering all the other orphans except Jennifer and herself.Jennifer was the sole survivor of both the airship crash and orphanage massacre, leaving her completely alone in the world with no family or friends. She repressed all her traumatic memories of abuse, bullying and witnessing death at a young age.

4. Lisa Trevor (Resident Evil)

She was abducted as a young girl in the 1960s by Umbrella Pharmaceuticals, along with her mother Jessica. They were used as test subjects to study the effects of progenitor viruses without their consent.Jessica was killed after her body rejected the virus she was exposed to. Lisa survived exposure but suffered severe mental and physical mutations as a result. For over 20 years, Lisa was held captive at the underground Arklay Laboratory and subjected to countless inhumane experiments by Umbrella researchers like William Birkin. She lost her sense of identity and humanity. Her only comfort was trying to find and recover her mother's face, having lost touch with reality. This drove her to attack and hurt female researchers.Umbrella eventually tried to have her killed when she became more of a liability, but her mutated body allowed her to survive. She continued living a feral existence alone in the mountains.By 1998, her mental state had deteriorated greatly and she was just a shadow of her former self, obsessed with finding her dead mother. She attacked S.T.A.R.S. members at the Spencer Mansion. Her final moments were recognizing Albert Wesker, one of her torturers, before being crushed as the mansion exploded. She died still longing for her mother after decades of cruel experimentation.

5. Clementine (Walking Dead)

In the first season, she is left alone at the start of the apocalypse as her parents have gone missing in Savannah. She is just a young, frightened girl trying to survive on her own. Lee becomes a father figure to her, but he is ultimately bitten by a walker. In a tearful scene, Clementine has to say goodbye to Lee as he turns. This is no doubt traumatizing for her as she loses the person who had been caring for and protecting her.If she stayed with Kenny after season 2, he sacrifices himself to allow her and AJ to escape a crashing car by being walker bait. She loses another father figure. Clementine faces constant loss, fear, danger and trauma from a very young age in her world, with many father figures dying to protect her. Her story shows great emotional hardship.
