Elder Whitehall's History
Elder Whitehall is an Elder of the Heaven's Glory School in Sacred Valley, a Jade-ranked Sacred Artist, which was an amazing achievement for his region. He had the appearance of a child, but he only looked like a child. As a young man, old age had frightened him more than anything, so he had tested his fledgling refiner’s skills on all the spirit-fruits and sacred herbs he could gather. He’d finally refined an elixir that he was convinced would allow him to extend his youth. But instead of achieving that, his body was reverted to that of an eight-year-old boy’s. His new body was not developed enough to use the full extent of its spirit, no matter how powerful that spirit was. Nor was it strong enough to handle the most powerful sacred arts. He could accept that if it meant an increase in longevity, but for reasons he couldn’t fathom, this state put an increased burden on his internal organs. In only another decade or so, he would die of old age while trapped inside a child’s body.
That he had achieved Jade in spite of his handicaps was a testament to his own genius. Unfettered, he was certain that he could have become the first sacred artist in hundreds of years to reach Gold. The other elders thought his condition added a mystique to the Heaven’s Glory School, as though they’d trained a child to Jade, so he was often the representative to other factions within the valley.
When the Sage of the Endless Sword arrived in Sacred Valley, he was taken in by the Heaven's Glory School, who actually just wanted his knowledge and resources. The school elders managed to weaken and kill the Sage due to the Valley's suppression field, which they were unaware of at the time.
Elder Whitehall also represented the Heaven's Glory School at the Seven Year Festival a short time later, and witnessed the battle between Wei Shi Lindon and Wei Jin Amon, during which Whitehall assumed the Unsouled Lindon would be killed. When Lindon won through a cheat he prepared ahead of time, he was allowed to go to the school, with Whitehall once again assuming that Lindon would soon be killed or otherwise sent home. Through yet another cheat, Lindon passes the school's entrance exam, earning the right to take an item from the school's treasure vault.
Yerin, the disciple of the Sage, fought the Heaven's Glory School for several weeks before being found by Lindon. The duo was confronted by Elder Whitehall, who had volunteered himself for this task, as his childlike appearance would protect the honor of the school. He, alongside the Irons he brought with him, are forced to retreat.
Later, while Yerin is battling her master's Remnant, Elder Whitehall ambushes her. Lindon circles around to attack Whitehall from behind, but his attack is ineffective. Whitehall throws Lindon towards the fight between Yerin and the Remnant, and Lindon, reacting quickly, throws the spirit seals at the Remnant as he passes. A few land, allowing Yerin to gain the upper ground in her fight. Elder Whitehall, now cautious of Lindon and fearing that Lindon is more powerful than he appears, offers Lindon a deal to advance him to Jade. When Lindon refuses, he attempts to destroy Lindon's core. Lindon at the last second uses the Heart of Two Stars technique, splitting his core in two and completely avoiding the spiritual attack. Not realizing that Lindon has survived, Whitehall turns his attention back to the fight between Yerin and her master's Remnant. Lindon is able to catch him unaware, disrupting his madra flow and throwing him off a cliff, killing him.
