@Hesperus So how come Sauron wasn’t really in the movies ? Do I need to read the books to actually meet him or is he just already defeated and that’s it ?

So how come Sauron wasn't really in the movies?

In the Lord of the Rings film trilogy directed by Peter Jackson, Sauron is not shown in physical form for most of the films. Instead, he is represented by the Eye of Sauron.

Do I have to read the books to meet him or is he just already defeated and that's it?

Reading J.R.R. Tolkien's books, especially the Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Silmarillion can be useful, because they can provide more depth and background information about the character and his history, motivations, and actions are developed in more detail than in the films that they mention.
