Doctor Fate's History

Kent Nelson was a kind academic and one of the founding members of the Justice Society, with his magical abilities and the Helmet of Fate, he used to transform into the powerful mystical sorcerer known as Doctor Fate. After the team disbanded, Kent went into exile in the Tower of Fate to try to find inner peace. However, many years later, Kent decided to return to action after a premonition, saving a group of children in danger and facing a demon which possessed Carrie's body. During the confrontation, Nelson saw a vision in which the Justice Society was killed, so after defeating the demon with the help of the children, Kent contacted Hawkman to return to the team and avoid his nightmare.

After the former champion Teth-Adam was freed by killing multiple Intergang soldiers, Kent and the team were assigned to travel to the nation of Kahndaq and stop him, briefly fighting him before finally calling a truce, helping him with the search for Amon Tomaz, in over the course Nelson would befriend Adam. When Amon was saved, Adam turned himself in and was imprisoned, while the Justice Society ended up facing Ishmael Gregor. In an attempt to save his friend Hall from him, Nelson decided to sacrifice himself, telepathically freeing Adam from his cell and motivating him to fight, only to be killed by Gregor.
