Propulsion - The warp drive of the D7 enabled it to catch up with a ship traveling at warp 9. In addition, the D7 impulse drive consisted of four-port engines, presumably giving the ship enhanced maneuverability at sublight speeds.Weaponry - The D7 was equipped with two retractable, nacelle-mounted disruptor cannons, a forward-mounted phaser emitter, and a forward launcher capable of firing photon torpedoes, magnetic pulses and disruptor blasts. Some were also equipped with a projected stasis field generator, could be projected in up to three different directions at one time. The weapon, which was extremely powerful, was capable of completely paralyzing an enemy vessel, including all its vital systems. The firing of this weapon also prevented the ship's other weapon systems from operating.
Cloaking - Like most Klingon ships, the D7 came equipped with a cloaking device tied to its shield array. When activated, the cloaking device projects a cloaking field, also known as cloaking shields, around the vessel which selectively bend the path of light and sensors to render the vessel invisible and undetectable. This shield can be expanded to cloak multiple vessels. A D7 could not use its weapons while cloaked.
