History of Concordance Engine
The Concordance Engine is a device created by the Beyonders, also known as Omegas, in the Marvel Universe. It serves as a cosmic engine designed to manage and shape the Multiverse. The Engines have the ability to alter reality, space, and time, grant wishes, and act as gateways to the Multiverse.The Beyonders created the Concordance Engines to aid them in their task of shaping and maintaining the Multiverse. These Engines originate from the Outside in the "Engine Room" of creation, and they are powered by the Beyonders from higher planes, such as the White Hot Room.On Earth, the Beyonders placed various Concordance Engines to draw miracles and create conditions for extraordinary heroes who could defend their realities. These Engines have been on Earth since at least the time of Pangaea. Each Engine is guarded by a Beyonder sentry known as a "Prester," including Prester John, Prester Omega, and other unnamed Presters. The Engines have the ability to conceal themselves from history and the minds of those who try to reveal their existence. They are capable of producing and/or utilizing the Enigma Force. The purpose of the Engines is to maintain the Multiverse and act as weapons against threats like the Death Celestials. Throughout history, different groups and individuals have discovered and interacted with the Concordance Engines. The Prince of Orphans and his companions found one at the North Pole and incorporated it into the engine room of Captain Nemo's ship, the Nautilus. The Confederates of the Curious also became aware of the Engines and fought over one of them in Z'Gambo. Prester John, a guardian of one of the Engines, showed the Defenders the Concordance Engine guarded by Prester Omega. He revealed his plan to let Nul destroy the Engine, which would lead to the end of the universe they were in. However, Prester Omega destroyed Nul, and the Defenders stole the Engine.Another Engine was discovered in the sunken Nautilus by Namor, and it was salvaged by the Rand Corporation. The Prince of Orphans disguised another Engine as three frogs and used it to send the Defenders to another reality. The Beyonders later decided to contain a threat to the Multiverse by using the Concordance Engines to limit it to a few narrow realities in the Eighth Cosmos.
