Centurion's History

The Roman Centurions were once strong and fearless warriors. When they died on the battlefield with courage and honor, they believed they would know peace and rest for all eternity. But when the evil Neff, Lord of the Underworld, abducted Athena, her father Zeus searched for a warrior strong and brave enough to rescue her. He chose the Centurion(s), and brought him/them back from the grave. And since he/they would be battling supernatural foes, Zeus gave him/them supernatural powers of his/their own, namely the power to transform into a part-animal, part-human creature with superhuman strength.

In the Japanese version of the game, they are beast-men, the most powerful species on Earth. Their bodies can actively absorb spiritual power, and when it reaches the limit, they transform into beast-warriors. With human intelligence, the power of a beast, and a spiritual power comparable to the gods, they overwhelmed nature and other species, gaining control over the Earth. When they had no enemies left, they gradually made others worship them as gods, incurring divine wrath; as punishment, Zeus sealed them in stone monuments. Over a thousand years later, the demon Neff captured Athena and threatened her safety if the gods interfered with his plans. As they could not interfere directly, the gods decided to release the beast-warrior(s) in the hope that he/they will be able to rescue Athena.
