History of Astral Regulator
Astral Regulators are powerful artifacts, more powerful than the Infinity Gems, created by the the One-Above-All to keep the different universes of the Multiverse from clashing into each other. The Regulator of each universe is stored in a highly protected place where most beings would immediately die. Thanos, controlled by his future self, was able to get his universe's regulator, since he "existed outside the norm" (a living being that can never die), and used it to absorb into his being most of the Cosmic Beings, including the Above-All-Others her/himself and the Living Tribunal.
