Aoi is a mink, from the island of Zōu. The island is inhabited by humanoid animals, who possess the ability to generate electricity from their bodies. Aoi was born from a Racoon mink who is a bartender in Zōu and has little to no combat capabilities. Her mother is a Fox mink, renown for being an astounding knight. Aoi's name was given to her at birth, because her parents determined how beautiful she was even when she was just born. Aoi means beautiful in Japanese, and is spelled with the Kanji 碧. She always dreamed of being like her mother, a brave knight with remarkable sword skills, but attempt after attempt she kept getting told that she was useless with a sword and should give it up. At the end, a Wolf mink saw her, and determined that she had lots of potential that would be wasted if she chose the path of the sword. She told the child that if she wanted to be a hero, she should instead try to train her abilities using her Electro to enhance them and try unarmed combat instead of weapons. The wolf seemed very motherly and wise, so the kid accepted. She spent years if her life training to be able to hold her electricity and control it, using it to her advantage. After her master deemed her ready to depart, she was sent off with a pirate ship to explore the world by herself. She would have never even dreamed to become as strong as she is now.
