Anubis's History

Anubis is an ancient Egyptian god associated with mummification and the afterlife. In Egyptian mythology, Anubis was often depicted as a jackal-headed god or as a man with the head of a jackal. Anubis was believed to have been the son of Osiris and Nephthys, or sometimes of Set and Nephthys. According to legend, Osiris was killed and dismembered by his brother Set, but Anubis helped his mother Nephthys reassemble Osiris's body and embalm it, thus becoming associated with the process of mummification. Anubis was also believed to have had a role in weighing the hearts of the deceased in the afterlife, determining whether they were worthy to enter the realm of the gods. He was often depicted as a guardian of the underworld and a protector of the dead.
